Mrs. Irabelle Glaze was
dismissed from Franklin
County Hospital last Tuesday
and has been at.the home of ha-
sister, Mrs. Anna be lie Hall in

Everetts Copeland Sunday

Mrs. Inez Griffin returned to
her home in Amarillo Saturday
after being here a week at-
tending to her sister, Aleene
Bryant, who is slowing im-
proving from a serious illness in
Franklin County Hospital.

Tira Town Council met in
special session Saturday night
and decided that construction
on a new fire station will begin
this week.
Funeral services for Gladys
Webb of Cooper, but a former
Tira resident, were held in
Cooper Monday, with burial in
North Hopkins Cemetery.
Herm Weir was in Cooper for
the funeral services and was a
pallbearer.
James Brice and family ate
supper with Lillian Brice
Saturday night. James Jr. and
Brandi spent the night there
and attended Sunday School
with her. They and Mozelle
Davis were luncheon guests
there. Melba McKinney and
Gertrude Davis were there
Sunday afternoon.
The cotton farmers finished
gathering their crop last week.
Noble Horn was cotton king
with about 129 bales.
Mildred Chapman, Gay and
Ruth Chapman, Lucille Horn
and Beulah Smiddy spent the
weekend in Dallas with
Mildred’s daughter Betty Sue
and Carl Johnson. Noble and
Modena Horn spent the
weekend in Dallas with their
daughter, Dorriece. The
families, along with other
nearby relatives, ate a family
supper with Betty and Carl.
Twenty members were there.
Fifteen relatives ate Sunday
lunch with them. They had a
wonderful time.
Mary Dee Brice visited
Beauton Gay Wednesday af-
ternoon, along with Ruth
Fisher.
Jake Weir is confined at
home with hepatitis.
Fay and Dennis Dawson have
moved to Sulphur Springs.
The community extends
sympathy to the Billy Frank
Chapman family in the loss of
their husband and father. He
lived in this community as a
child and had many relatives
and friends here.
Jewell Smiddy’s sister is
visiting her this week.
and Mrs. Jim Baker of Dallas
and Mr. and Mrs. Doc Deuson of
Quitman.
Mr. and Mrs. George Swain
visited Mr. and Mrs. Buster
Harris in Greenwood Sunday
afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. A. C. I»wry
celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary Saturday, Dec. 8.
They are former Saltillo
residents who now live in
Sulphur Springs. Fifty years
ago when someone married in
Saltillo they were in for most
any kind of suprises. When
Jewel and Alvie married here
Dec. 8,1929, Alvie was taken for
a drag ride behind a car. He
was later taken near Pine
Forest and turned loose to get
home the best way he could.
Another man was thrown in the
railroad pool on his wedding
night. Things are more tame
now than in those “good ole
days."
Miss Bonnie Bell Jack and
her sister from Paris were
recent visitors with Mrs. Velera
loving.
.Mrs. Andy Hart underwent
surgery in Memorial Hospital in
Sulphur Springs Monday-
morning.
Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Arthur
visited Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Arthur in Mount Pleasant
Friday. Paul has good days and
bad days, but is always in pain.
Mr. and Mrs. Terry Sustaire
and children spent the weekend
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs
Billy Sustaire in Pleasant
Grove and with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Don Ensey in
Mesquite.
Saltillo chapter 173, O.E.S.,
met in a regul meeting
Monday night with Mrs Lea
Pompa of Commerce, Deputy-
Grand Matron of District I,
Section III, making her official
visit. At the close of the
meeting a salad supper was
served in the dining hall.

The Briley family had an
early Christmas party at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd
Wardrup. Attending were Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Piece of Dallas,
Steve Pierce and Mary Cald-
well of Denton, Jim Pierce and
sons Keith and Eric of Dallas,
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shaddox of
Avery, Mrs. Ruth Briley of
Saltillo, Mr. and Mrs. Mike

Combine ingredients; pour into 2 greased and
floured 9 x 5” loaf pans. Bake 50-55 mins, at 350°.
Serve with warmed Cranberry Sauce.
1 pkg yellow cake mix 1 c. sour cream
1 pkg instant pudding ■/< c oil
(lemon flavor. 4-serving snef/i c. chopped nuts
4 eggs '/> can (16 ox.) whole berry
cranberry sauce
For sauce: combine remaining ‘/a can cranberry
sauce, 2'A c. water, 1 pkg. (lemon flavor) pudding,
Vt c. sugar, 'A tsp. salt. Bring to lull boil; cook until
thickened. Stir in 1 T. butter.
