Engagement announcement
Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Walker of Sulphur Springs announce the engage-
ment and approaching marriage of their daughter, Kelly Anne, to TYavis
Bennett, the son of Mr. and Mn Greg Payne of Sulphur Springs and Mr.
Larry Bennett of Dallas. The couple will be married at 3 p.m. Saturday,
Oct. 21, in First United Methodist Church.

Newcomers’ Club
The 1995-96 officers of the New-
comers’ Club met in the home of Lynn
Memck for a kick-off meeting. Appe-
tizers were served. The meeting con-
tinued at Big Smiths' Barbecue. Those
in attendance were Lori Smidebush,
president, Lee Heisey, correspondence
secretary; Lynn Merrick, recording
auction; and Rachel Lewis, publicity.
The first meeting of the Newcom-
en' Club for 1995-96 wa a salad sim-
per on Tuesday, Sept. 19. in the com-
munity room of Sulphur Springs State
Bank.
Numbers with names were drawn
for seating positions and the introduc-
tion of guests and members. A short
business meeting was held.

The bride is the daughter of Allen
and Sharon Stone of Dike.
The groom is the son of Donald
and Phyllis South of Dike.
Given in marriage by her father, the
bride wore a long-sleeved, floor-
length ivory gown accented with
pearl trimmii^ and iridescent sequins.
Her flowing lace veil trimmed with
her
Rose of Sulphur Springs.
Music for the ceremony was pro-
vided by Leon Stone of Sulphur
Springs, who sang “Forever Is As Far
As TUGo." During the lighting of the
unity candle, “I Swear” was played.
Following the ceremony, a recep-
tion was held at the Sulphur Bluff
Community Center;
The couple now resides in Dike.
A bridal shower was held July 9 at
Sulphur Bluff Baptist Church.

Western ceremony unites couple
Cromer, DuBose to wed
Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Cromer of Sulphur Springs announce the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Natalie Kay
Cromer, to Bryan James DuBose, son of Judge and Mrs. Willie B. DuBose
of Midland. The couple will wed at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, in First Bap-
tist Church in Sulphur Springs.

in marriage in a double-ring
western wedding at 11:30 a.m. Satur-
day, Aug. 12, at St. Phillips Episcopal
Church in Sulphur Springs. Leon
Stone officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Ronny
and Paula Doss of Sulphur Springs
and the granddaughter of Gene Doss
of Sulphur Springs and the late Grace
Doss and Delbert and Ameda Yowell
of Alba.
The groom is the son of David and
Linda Winstead of Sulphur Springs
and the grandson of the late Mel D.
Winstead and Cleo and T.C. Leverton
of Sulphur Springs.
Becky Beir, pianist, played the pro-
cessional and wedding march. Nor-
man Colyer, uncle of the groom,
played “Just You and I,” “Keeper of
the Stars” and “I Cross My Heart,”
on his guitar and sang.
The bride was escorted to the altar
by her father and given in marriage
by her parents.
Attending the bride as matron of
honor was her sister, Rhonda Ston-
aker. Lesa Smyers served as brides-
maid.
David H. Winstead, father of the
groom, served as be t man. David P.
Winstead, brother of the groom, was
the groomsman.
Cody Hall of Commerce, second
cousin of the groom, served as ring
bearer.
Jacey and Jandy Southerland of
Sulphur Springs decorated the cere-
mony as flower girls.
James Stonaker, brother-in-law of
Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Lynn Winstead
the bride, and Greg Wilhite served as
ushers.
Following the ceremony, a recep-
tion was held honoring the newly-
weds. Members of the houseparty at
the bride’s table were Lou Ann
Camp, Susan Stone, Josie Stone and
Cindy Hatfield. Serving on the
groom’s table were Chasity Campbell
and Dana Odell.
Following a honeymoon in
Arkansas, the couple returned to their
home in Tira.
The bride is a graduate of Sulphur
Springs High School. She has a cos-
metology degree from North East
Texas Community College and she is
working on a bachelor’s degree in
business from East Texas State Uni-
versity. She is employed at the South-
west Dairy Center.
The groom is a graduate of Sul-
phur Springs High School. He also
attended North East Texas Communi-
ty College and transferred to East
Texas State University, where he is •
working on his bachelor’s degree
agricultural education. He is
employed at Dairy Health Services.
Showers and Parties
A rehearsal dinner of barbecue
plates was given on Wednesday, Aug.
9 at the church.
On June 25, a miscellaneous show-
er was hosted by Donna Colyer,
Leslie Emetine and Neil Hooten at
Drama Colyer’s home.
A surprise shower was given to the
bride by her fellow cosmetology stu-
dents and instructor at the college in
Mount Pleasant.
Lesa Smyers and June White host-
ed a miscellaneous shower at Sulphur
Springs State Bank on July 16.
On July 20, a personal lingerie
shower was hosted by Rhonda Ston-
aker and Lesa at the home of Lesa
Smyers
FAMILYReunions
Carter Family Reunion
The annual Carter family reunion
was held in Richard Graham Park
Sunday, Sept. 10, with approximately
85 in attendance.
Special gifts were given to the old-
est attendee, Albert Carter; the
youngest, Cody Williams; those trav-
eling the farthest, Leon and Florence
Carter; newlyweds Mr. and Mrs.
John Roden Valentine; and the
largest family attending, Jesse and
Mytle Carter, Butler, Jesse, Eugene,
Clyde, Roy, Earline Beard and Rob-
bie Kunkle.
The reunion this year was the 45th
in the same location. The park had
been redone recently and was a real-
ly nice place. We appreciate the city
of Greenville for keeping it that way.
Goldsmith Family Reunion
The JJB. and Nealie Goldsmith
family met for their annual family
reunion on Sunday, Aug. 20 at the
Senior Citizens Activity Center.
