Candlelight ceremony unites Allison, Reilly
A my Carothers Allison and
David Gregory Reilly were
i united in marriage at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday. Dec. 13. in the sanctuary of
First United Methodist Church in Sul-
phur Springs. The double-ring candle-
light ceremony was celebrated by the
Rev. Ralph Morgan of Nacogdoches,
former youth minister of the groom,
and Deacon Loren Seely of the bride's
home church, St. James Catholic.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William Thomas Allison II of
Sulphur Springs.
The groom is the son of Mr and
Mrs. Gregory Reilly of Houston and
the grandson Of Mrs. Max Slife of
Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reilly
of Lancaster, Fa.
Given in marriage by her father, the
bride wore a gown of candlelight silk-
faced satin designed in the princess sil-
houette featuring an empire, bodice,
long tapered sleeves and a softly Hared
skirt that fell to the floor. A large bow
and streamers and a chapel-length train
added interest and satin bridal buttons
and loops marked the Closures at the
wrists and in back.
To complement her gown. Miss Alli-
son wore an arch of bridal pearls from
which fell her veil ot ivory French illu-
sion. She carried a classic hand-tied
arrangement of Virginia roses in soft
cream. Natural foliage was used as a
background for the elegant bouquet.
The bride's sister. Beth Unite of
Houston, served as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Sarah Gee of
Arlington. Tracy Hems of College Sta-
tion, Laura Morris of Tyler and Shelly
Shrader ot College Station. The atten-
dants were dressed alike in formal
gowns ol eggplant velvet and satin fea-
turing empire bodices, long tapered
sleeves and floor length satin skirts.
They carried bouquets of miniature
ivory calla lilies shaded to a grape hue.
The groom's best man was John
Carson ol Dallas. Groomsmen were
brothers ol ihe groom. Steve Reilly of

Mr. and Mrs. Monty Hunt, formerly of Sulphur Springs, announce the
engagement of their daughter, Meredith Anne, to Brian Lynn Guyton, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Guyton of Bryan. The couple plan to marry at 7
p.m. on Vug. X. at Central Baptist Church in Bryan, where the bride-
elect's father is minister of music. The bride-elect is the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ray Hunt of Sulphur Springs.

ture readings. After the exchange of
vows and rings, the congregation
joined the couple in reciting “The
Lord’s Prayer." The couple and wed-
ding party recessed to Vivaldi’s "Glo-
ria.”
White poinsettias were placed
throughout the beautiful sanctuary of
ihe church. The backdrop for the nup-
tial was a setting of cathedral cande-
labra holding arrangements of roses,
lilies and orchids. The chancel was
beautifully encircled with garlands of
greenery and tiered votive candle
arrangements and the window decora-
tions featured globed candles and
Christmas greens.
Following the ceremony, Mr. and
Mrs. Allison hosted a reception for the
couple, their family and friends at the
Hopkins County Civic Center.
Members of the houseparty who
assisted at the reception were Kristy
Coffman and Carolyn Thompson of
Dallas, Melissa Elroz of Chicago, III..
Stephanie McAfee of Conroe, Laura
Hartman of New York, N.Y., Rebecca
Palmer of Houston, Julie Ro-Trock and
Sarah Stratemann of College Station.
Guests entered the Civic Center Hall
through a door Hanked on each side
with lighted Christmas trees and white
poinsettias. The heauty of the season
was captured with evergreen lighted
trees swirled in silver lame’, ornaments
and glittered poinsettias. Soft theatrical
lighting and reception tables adorned
with Christmas greens, florals and
ivory globed candles added to the mag-
ical setting of the room. An array of
other floral arrangements featuring
calla lilies and roses along with poin-
settias and Christmas greens provided
a beautiful setting for the buffet.
Judy’s Kitchen catered the holiday
event where guests enjoyed selections

The Rev. Woodrow Kirby officiated
the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of John
and Margie Smith of Birthright.
The groom is the son of Jerry Wil-
son of Como and Barbara Morris of
Winnsboro. He is the grandson of
Ollie Slagle of Winnsboro.
Rhory Wilson, brother of the
groom, served as best man. Robert
Collins was the groomsman.
Serving as matron of honor was
Sherri Wilson while Darlene Cochran,
sister of the bride, served as brides-
maid.
Crystal Wilson, daughter of the
groom, was the flower girl and Coy
Smith, nephew of the bride, served as
ring bearer.
Lacie and Ashley Wilson, daugh-
ters of the groom, performed the can-
dle lighting ceremony.
The bride was escorted to the altar
by her father as the organist played
“The Wedding March.”
A reception followed with cake and
punch.
A host of family and friends attend-
ed the ceremony.
from the shrimp and salmon mousse
table, the ham and turkey table and the
array of cheeses, tortes, spinach dip,
Mexican quiche, meatballs, marinated
mushrooms and art fully-arranged fruits
and vegetables. The six-tiered bride’s
cake was white w ith cream cheese fill-
ing and fondant icing and the groom's
cake, also tiered, was chocolate
amaretta with raspberries.
Music for the evening was provided
by Vicho Vicencio’s Moondance
Orchestra. The bride and groom chose
"Wonderful Tonight" for their tradi-
tional dance together and the bride and
her father danced to "It's a Wonderful
World.”
The .couple left under a shower of
rose petals for a trip to St. Kitts and
Nevis in the Caribbean.
The bride is a graduate of Texas
A&M University with a bachelor's
degree in interdisciplinary studies. She
was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta
sorority. She teaches special education
in the San Marcos school system.
The groom is president of Reilly
Carothers Construction Company in
Lockhart, where the couple resides.
Showers and Parties
Lucy McRae and Ashley McRae,
cousins of the bride frpm Dallas, host-
ed a brunch in their home on Sept. 6.
Friends of the bride in the Dallas area
attended.
A shower and brunch was given the
bride by Mrs. John Watson at the Eccel
Cafe in College Station on Oct. 12.
Lake Elberta was the setting for a
brunch given for the couple and Lake
Elberta friends on Oct. 19 by Jodie and
Bob Skidmore, Carolyn and Tom
Stewart, Carol and Alec Bridges.
Camilla and Jerry Hartman, Chibby
and Don Turner, Sissie and Joe Moore
and Joyce Ann and David Jackson.
Guests enjoyed the beautiful view at
tables set by the lake.
The couple were honored with a
Ragin’ Cajun dinner on Oct. 25, at the
Houston Racquet Club, given by Can-
dy Carson. Family and members of the
wedding party were guests.
A fun kitchen and bath shower was
given Nov. 16 by Rhonda Meore, Lau-
ra and Phyllis Morris at the Methodist
church parlor.
A festive ornament shower and
brunch was held in the home of There-
sa Bennett on Nov. 22. This traditional
mother-daughter neighborhood party
was also hosted by Nancy Barton,
Donna Rudzik and Susannah Price,
The bride's mother’s Lunch Bunch
honored her with a beautiful Bridal Tea
in the home of Anne Willmann on
Nov. 23. Other hostesses were Lydia
Bryant. Twan Bennett. Carol Bridges.
Barbara McKenzie, Linda Johnson and
Barb Julian.
A bachelorette party was given in
Houston at the Galleria Doubletree Inn
by Beth Unite and the traditional bach-
elor's party was hosted in Dallas by the
best man, John Carson.
A bridal brunch was given the morn-
ing of the wedding by Barbara
McKenzie, Peggy Dietze and Mariah
McKenzie. Joining in preparation of
the delicious brunch in the McKenzie
home was Chris Phiffer. fiance of Miss
McKenzie.
The “Get Me to the Church on
Time" picnic was hosted by Janette
and Gene Watson, Myra and David
Watson’and Gena and Bill Burrell at
the First United Methodist Church
before the ceremony. Megan and Katie
Watson assisted with the party.
Sara and Greg Reilly hosted the
wedding party for the rehearsal dinner
at Echo Executive Lodge. The fajita
dinner was catered by Shirley Moore
and Nancy Rooks. Memories were
shared and good wishes given through
many toasts to the couple, and gifts
were presented to the wedding party.
The bride’s family hosted family and
friends for a casual brunch at Monroe’s
Restaurant at the Holiday Inn before
the out-of-town guests departed from
Sulphur Springs,

Saturday, Dec. 20, in Davis Street
Baptist Church. The Rev. Tommy
Hall, pastor of Davis Street Baptist
Church and the Rev. Gary House,
father of the groom, officiated the
double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Jerry Pilcher of Sulphur
Springs. She is the granddaughter of
Mrs. Hester Pilcher of Sulphur
Springs and the late Pete Pilcher
and Mrs. Iona McCool of Brashear
and the late Charlie McCool.
The groom is the son of the Rev.
and Mrs. Gary House of Teague,
formerly of Sulphur Springs. He is
the grandson of Mrs. Pauline House
of Hot Springs, Ark., and the late
Clifton House and Mrs. Bernice
Clayton Pounders of Colt, Ark., and
the late Clarence Clayton.
Given in marriage ny her parents
and escorted down tha aisle by her
father, the bride wore \ traditional
white gown. Iridescent sequins and
tiny seed pearls enhanced the V-
neck bodice. The high collar and
Juliette sleeves were also adorned
with pearls and sequins matching
the bodice and skirt.
Elegant cut-outs and designs,
along with delicate beadwork com-
plemented the elaborate cathedral
train. A large satin bow, followed by
two smaller bows, topped the train.
The bride wore a tiara fashioned
with sequins and pearls attached to
a double tulle fingertip veil.
The bride carried a cascading
bouquet of burgundy and white ros-
es and lilies accented with streams
of pearls, ivy and burgundy and
gold ribbon.
Becky Turner Sundeen of Spring-
field. Mo., served as matron of hon-
or. Cathy Berry Massey served as
bridesmaid. The bridal attendants
wore elegant floor-length burgundy
dresses. Each dress featured a fitted
bodice of velvet and a full skirt of
crepe.
Michael House, brother of the
groom, of San Antonio, served as
best man. Jeff Ingram of Sulphur
Springs served as groomsman.
Michael Russell, Bradley
McCool and Pete Rose, cousins of
the bride, served as ushers and can-
dlelighters.
Mehlhoff, Parker to wed
Ronald and Hilda Mehlhoff of Brashear announce the engagement and
approaching marriage of their daughter, Maria Marilyn, to Robert Man-
son Parker, son of William J. and Patricia Parker of Longview. The cou-
ple will wed at 2 p.m. Saturday. Feb. 14. in St. James Catholic Church.
