21—Regional Qualifiers
Coach by Kenny Hoffpauir, East
Chambers advanced to the regional
tournament a year ago and lost
Navasota, 89 to 85. One of its two
playoffs wins came over Center, led
by 6-foot-5 All-Stater Reggie Harper.
"Our playoff victories would have
to be considered upsets,” says Hoff-
pauir, “and the win over Center was
definitely a big upset. That’s not to
take anything from our Jcids.
They’re good athletes who can play
for a lot of people."
The Bucs returned six players
from the team of a year ago, in-
cluding Pat Denton, Fred Jones,
Quinn Brown, Moses Thomas, Matt
Adamson and Robert Denton.
Pat Denton and Jones have each
scored more than 1,000 points in
their playing days, while Brown and
Jones are three-year starters.
So far, East Chambers has reach-
ed their goals of playing well in non-
district games with a 14-7 mark and
winning the 24-AAA title with a 10-0
mark.
East Chambers’ opponents have a
tough task in trying to guard Pat
Denton, a 6-foot guard, who averag-.
ed 25.7 points per game.
