THE POLK COUNTY
Fall traditions continue
Pro-football was absent for the most part but other facets of autumn never change. As the
season draws to a close, most East Texans can be found preparing for the winter ahead and
cleaning up the debris which marks the change of season. Some fall scenes (clockwise from top
top left): Mrs. Glen Jackson and sons Dean (under leaves) and Joe Collin make a dreaded
autumn chore fun; a reminder of colder days ahead, hay bales await winter
feedings; falling leaves are caught in mid flight; Joe Collin Jackson finds a
pile of freshly-raked leaves irresistible; the
scent of smoke from fireplaces and wood
heaters add to the autumn air; Chris Wilson
makes sure his family will
stay warm this winter; a
woodpile stands ready to
serve at the next ‘blue nor-
ther’ (center)
