FOR THE LOVER OF ANTIQUE AND NOSTALGIA — Linda Brooks is the owner of
Vera's Antique Village, where people who are intrigued by the old and the nostalgic can have
a field day browsing through five rooms of the expected and the unusual. Vera’s Antique Vil-
lage is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is located on U.S. 59 at Moscow
just north of the railroad overpass.

As you breeze through Moscow on U.S. 59 you
can’t tefl from the highway, but Vera’s Antique Vil-
lage is a lot bigger than it looks. What appears to be a
little roadside shop, decorated in front by a mass ot
white, metal outside iumiture, is a 5200-sq-ft.
warehouse of the old and the collcciable. Five rooms
invite browsing to really appreciate the extent of the
constantly changing collection.
Linda Brooks is a collector. She is often on the go
throughout the country and beyond the borders look
ing for antiques of every nature, from tiny figurines
to massive, 19th century furniture, always with an
eye for both tried-and-true salable items as well as
unexpected things you never knew existed until you
find them at Vera’s.
You will of course find the popular items like glas-
sware, crockery and figurines (antique and new), but
you will also find such things as antique farm equip-
ment and rare kitchen crank tools, long-horn skulls,
and things you never imagined.
There is an antique seed case used in stores that
still contains packets and bags of seeds. And a fodder
cutter. And a bone cutter that was used to grind bones
for chicken feed.
The kitchen room abounds with antique kitchen
ware: kettles, pots and pans, coffee pots, baking pans,
many designed to sit in the coals of an open fireplace.
She has one of the oldest sets of granite ware in the
country, which dates to the 1800s. You will see
kitchen tools like a cherry pitter, apple peeler, raisin
seeder and poppy seed grader.
Among the 1800s furniture, you will find a Bel-
gium buffet with a chocolate-marble top, a fireplace
mantel that came from a local home, a handcarved
church organ, an armoire (wardrobe) that includes a
built-in pants press, a huge cerar chest with intricate
handcarving (as opposed to glued-on appliques) and
many more exquisite pieces of fine cratsmanship.
She has over 1600 sets of jewelry, a large collec-
tion of Flow Blue dinnerware, old prims, dolls, and
an untold variety of figureines and miniatures. It
would be impossible to list every category, let alone
each item.
Also for the antique collector, She keeps I UtfgC
selection of books on all types of antiques and collec-
tables.
Vera’s Antique Village, which is just north of the
overpass al Moscow, has been in business here about
a year and a half. Linda and her husband moved here
from Crockett, but she is a native Polk Countian from
the Corrigan area.
Vera’s Antique Village is open from 10 a.m. to 6
p.m. seven days a week.
