can begin reserving booth spaces for
the Polk Count) Pine Cone Festival

Chamber of Commerce office, 516

Booth spaces go on sale for out-of-
county residents Aug 1
Those who completed reservation
forms following the 1985 festival
should call the chamber at 327-6327
as soon as possible to verify those
reservations, and pay the fee, accor-
ding to Chamber Manager Honey
Simons Those who did not complete
the reservation form after last
year’s event do not have a space
reserved, she added.
There will be 107 booths on the
courthouse square, which is for arts
and crafts only. Booths on the
square are available for $45. The
lay out on the square has been replat-
ted, according to Simons, so the
booth numbers are not the same as
last year
About 85 spaces are available on
the county parking lot west of the
courthouse, which will include a
tailgate area Anything other than
arts and crafts will lie located in the
tailgate section.
Electricity will be available only
in the food section, where there will
be about 37 spaces. Food booth
spaces are $50 plus electrical hook-
up.
Booth sales for in-county residents
will begin promptly at 8:30 a m.
Tuesday , according to Simons, w ho
added booth locations will be reserv-
ed on a “first come, first serve”
basis.
The Polk County Pine Cone
Festival will be held Oct. 10-12.

Unit training complete

one station unit training (OSUT) at
the U S. Army Infantry School, Fort
Benning, Ga
Gilbert Gas Co.
PROPANE GAS
OSUT is a 12-week period which
combines basic combat training and
advanced individual training.
The training included weapons
qualifications, squad tactics,
patrolling, landmine warefare, field
communications and combat opera-
tions. Completion of this course
qualifies the soldier as a light-
weapons infantryman and as an
indirect-fire crewman.
Soldiers were taught to perform
any of the duties in a rifle or mortar
squad.
