Southern Auto Store
Where Merchandise Is High in Quality and Reasonable
in Price
Southern Auto Store, 106 S. Dallas
Street, owned and operated by Wesley
Knize, is a merchandising concern which is
hiown over a steadily widening territory.
For the past sixteen years, Mr. Knize has
been in business ui ihe present location end
for three years prior to his purchase of the
store, was employed there. He thus is wide-
ly experienced in the business.
Besides local patronage Southern Auto
keeps a territory salesman regularly on the
road, in Ellis and Navarro Counties, selling
to garages, service stations and other deal-
ers, as the firm’s major business is national-
brand auto parts, along with tools and
equipment, and such items as batteries and
the Arthur Fulmer line of tailored auto seat
covers, to fit individual cars.
Southern Auto also maintains a preci-
sion machine service, which is important to
the repair trade.
In the hardware department, there are
a variety of items, Including electrical sup-
plies in the nature of material for repair
work, especially. .Small home appliances
are carried, also GE fans and Lennox air-
conditioning, particularly in demand just
now. Along sporting goods lines are guns
and ammunition, ball and fishing equip-
ment. Southern Auto is dealer for the popu-
lar Schwinn bicycles and supplies, repair
parts and service.
Lawn and garden supplies include
garden hose and lawn mowers and the
firm is dealer and offers factory-authorized
service on Briggs Stratton and Clinton nn<-
aline motors.
“It has been our aim," said Mr. Knize,
“to make our store as complete an estab
lishment of its type as practical. We handle
well-known brand merchandise and parts
and offer it at reasonable prices. Our store
has enjoyed a steady growth and we ap-
preciate the patronage that has made this
possible.”
Southern Auto maintains an operating
staff of nine persons: Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Knize, owners and operators; Edwin A.
Knize, counter-man and assistant manager;
Rudy Valek, counter-man; E. V. Clark, ter-
ritory salesman; Johnnie Nelson, shop oper-
ator; Joe Valik, delivery man; Jerry Salik,
shipping and receiving clerk; Cecil Chris-
tian, shop assistant.
Southern Auto is one of Ennis’ best
known business institutions—dependable,
courteous, a place where people like to
trade . . . well-stocked, progressive, a
store which draws many customers to Ennis
from about East Ellis County.
