The rain, which begun falling hero
about nine o’clock Thursday night, n
general all over the State, accord-
ing to radio announcements. As a
result of the reports, cotton, which
took such a mighty tumble Thursday
morning, because of the Government
report, took an upward trend, and
has almost returned to its old stand-
ing.
The radio reports predict a decid-
ed drop in temperature, with killing
frosts in the Panhandle district. Fri-
day morning was almost wintry at
this place, and sweaters and over-
coats were common.
City To Issue

At a meeting the City Council
Wednesday night it was voted to is-
sue bonds to the amount of $50,000
to repair the water works system of
Mt# Pleasant. This will be welcome

people were present and enjoyed the

An impromptu program was ren-
dered, which was very interesting.
Rev J. D. Fuller made the welcome
address, and he was responded to by
H. J. Lee of Omaha. Rev. McKenzie
of Omaha entertained the crowd with
two humorous readings, (and little
Misses Minnie Tidmore and Grace
Evelyn Rouse also gave a nice read-
ing each.
The principal talk was made by
! Rev. Albert Spence of Pittsburg, who
j spoke cn the subject of “The Good
j Samaritan,” hut stressed the point
| that’move attention should be. given
j to prevent such tragedies which t'te
parable gives as the basis for the
| charitable act of the passer-by.
j The visitors were entertained with
Fellows I elaborate refreshments, which were
bountifully served in the form of a
big banquet, the tables being filled
with everything good to eat.
The next meeting of the as^oi-ia
tion of the Odd Fellows will be held
in Omaha in January.

regular meeting next Tuesday at
the basement of the Baptist church,
in connection with” the big meeting
of the Northeast Texas Medical So-
ciey, which will meet here on that

surance rates as a result of the new

have a baseball team in the East
Texas League next year. The meet-
