Miss Belle Lokey, a member of the
graduating class of the Mt. Pleasant
High school for this year, surprised
her friends Monday evening by her
marriage to Mr. J. C. Combs a short
time after the graduating exercises
which were held at the Methodist
church.
The ceremony was performed at
the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. W. Lokey of this city. The cere-
mony was performed by Rev. J. D.
Fuller, pastor of the Baptist church,
only a few relatives and friends be-
ing in attendance.
The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
A. F. Combs of this county, and has
a responsible position with the Mis-
tletoe Creameries at Abilene. Both
have a large circle of friends here
who wish them every happiness. They
left Monday night for Dallas and Ft.
Worth, where they will spend a day
or two before going to Abilene.
Longview Took
Opener From
Cats Monday
The Cannibals, that aggregation oi
baseball players from Longview
which has had the Indian sign on the
Cats lot a long time, strutted their
stuff again Monday and took the op
ener of the series by a score of 8 to 1.
The Cats seemed to have been
"charmed” or something or other,
and just couldn’t play ball, while the ;
Cannibals hit Tising frequently and |
well, and the Cats failed to give him
any support. Longview got two
home runs.
Score by innings:
