Road traffic in this part of the
country has just about doubled with-
in the past two years; and stieet
jams are perplexing practically every
town and city of the nation.
Never in the world’s history has
anything been witnessed like the
growth of the automobile industry,
when almost every family has a car
and that car in almost constant use.
It i* such an1* easy matter to-go
somewhere now that noboby stays at
: home any more. Therefore the roads
are-vfjHed'Witb autos, going hither and
thither, And It is not very safe any
more, on highways or in the streets.
Under such conditions it would shorn
people would-use common sense and
caution; but many of them do not.
And that is the principal of- danger.
If every one was sane in his driving,
and used due caution, there would be
few accidents. But tUey are not. Thou-
of people are wt only careless,
dowbright reckless.
And then there are the • incompe-
tents, the half blind, those who err
in judgment of distance, etc.
What the future will bring in in-
creased traffic and added dangers we
cann'ot definitely foretell now. But
traffic will increase and the dangers
will increase with £Tie increased traf-
fic.
Thus traveling the streets and high-
way's is going to Ibecome the problem
of problems.—Palestine Herald.
