Indian Track 1 earn
Takes 6th at Big Spring
BIG SPRING — The Seminole
Indian varsity track and field team
finished with 46 points last Friday
evening, as they finished sixth in
the team standings at the 2013 Big
Spring Invitational, held at Memorial
Stadium.
Seminole finished well behind
Class 5A Abilene High, which took
top team honors with 184 points,
while host Big Spring finished with
140 points.
District 2-3Afoe LubbockEstacado
finished fifth with 56 points.
In girls competition, the Maiden
track and field team failed to secure
any points in competition at the Big
Spring meet, which was also won by
Abilene High with 172.
District rival Lubbock Estacado
finished third with 121 points on
the day.

Tribe 4th at WT Classic
MIDLAND — The Seminole
Indians finished fourth overall out
of a nine team field making up the
18th annual West Texas March
Classic, held this past weekend in
the Tall City.
Seminole, in the tournament's third
place game held Saturday afternoon
at Citibank Ballpark, fell to Class 3A
Pecos in a 4-1 decision.
Statistics of that game were not
released by Indian baseball officials
as of presstime Tuesday.
The Indians were sent to the
third place game following a 3-3
tie against eventual tournament
champion Presidio, in which the
Blue Devils advanced based on a
tie-breaker in which they had more
players reach second base against
the Indians.
Prior to the tie, the Indians defeated
Eunice, N.M. 9-1 and Class 2A
Forsan 11-3 in Fridays pool play.
In the tournament's opening round
of play on Thursday, the Indians
defeated the Midland High JV in a
7-6 contest.
The Indians will resume non-
district play this coming Thursday
and Friday, as they will play host
to District 4-3A representatives Big
Spring and Midland Greenwood,
respectively.
Thursday's Big Spring/Seminole
contest is slated for a 5:30 p.m. start
at Robert Ryan Field, while Friday's
Greenwood/Seminole ballgame is
scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
The Indians will open District
2-3A play on Tuesday, March
19, as they will travel to Lubbock
Cooper for a 7 p.m. contest from
Pirate Field, located on the campus
of Lubbock Cooper High School in
the Woodrow community.

at 2013 Snyder Tournament
SNYDER -- The Seminole
Maiden softball team brought home
Consolation title honors following a
2-1 record in Saturday's bracket play
at the 2013 Snyder Tournament,
held this past weekend.
The Maidens (13-4) defeated
Colorado City 10-2 in the
Consolation final behind 12 team
hits and a five inning, five hit pitching
performance from senior right-
hander Kristi Moralez.
Moralez, as well as teammates
Susan Reimer, Eva Remier and
Michelle Dyck also went 2-for-3
respectively at the plate for the
Maidens, which included a home
run by the senior pitcher and a
double from Susan Reimer.
Seminole opened Saturday's
bracket play with a 1-0, five inning
loss to District 2-3A rival Andrews on
Saturday morning.
Andrews lead off hitter Ceci
Santibanez, who went 2-for-3 at
the plate, scored the lone run for the
Lady Mustangs in the bottom of the
first inning off of Maiden senior Judy
Lopez, who allowed seven hits on
the morning in 19 batters faced.
The Maidens were held to three
hits by Andrews pitcher Shannon
Hobbs, who threw five complete
innings and struck out six Seminole
batters.
Seminole rallied from the loss with
a 17-2 win over Clyde Eula in the
consolation semifinals, behind an
18-hit performance, which included
home mns off the bate of Lopez and
freshman Melanie Sendejo.
Sendejo, who also pitched in the
win, only allowed three hits and
struck out two Clyde Eula batters in
the contest
The Maidens, on Tuesday,
traveled to Alpine to take on the
Class 2A Lady Bucks in a non-
district contest slated to be held at
Alpine High School.
Seminole, on Thursday, will travel
to Abernathy to take on Class 4A
Amarillo Caprock in a 1 p.m. non-
district neutral ate contest - the final
non-district contest for the Maidens
for the 2013 spring season.
The Maidens will open District
2-3A play this coming Saturday, as
they will host Shallowater in a 1 p.m.
contest at the Seminole ISD Softball
Stadium.
