50's pool party this Friday
It must be getting close to the last
Friday night in June, which means
it’s time for the annual Sonic 50’s
Party, held at the Matthews Street
pool. The party, presented by the
City of Livingston and Sonic
Drive-In, is scheduled for Friday,
June 30, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Get
a Sonic beach ball when you come
through the gate and Sonic coupons
when you leave! There will be a
live deejay playing oldies but good-
ies all evening long. Come ready to
compete in the hoola hodp contest,
dance contest and “carhop” relay
tournament. The staff will be serv-
ing up half price cherry cokes and
snow cones to quench your
thirst. The concession stand with a
full menu will be open for your
convenience. Prize drawings all
evening! Admission for adults $3,
kids 6 and under $2 with an
adult. The party will be limited to
the first 225 patrons. Call the Parks
and Recreation office at 327-5242

Soccer camp scheduled
The Livingston Youth, Soccer
Association has announced plans to
host a soccer camp for girls and
boys ages 5-18 at the Pedigo Park
Soccer Fields. The camp will be
held July 17-20 from 9 a.m. to 12
p.m. The cost of the camp is $50
per child and will include a free t-
shirt, drinks and
snacks. Participants should wear
shorts, t-shirt, cleats and shin
guards. Camp activities include an
introduction to soccer for begin-
ners, learning basic and advanced
skills, developing footwork skills
and learning rules and tradi-
tions. Awards will be given for
Camp MVP, Most Improved and
Team Leader. Registration contin-
ues for soccer camp and other
summer fun camps at the Trade
Days office located in Pedigo Park,
Monday-Friday, 8 a.ni.-12 p.m. and
I p.m.-5 p.m. The deadline for
Summer Day Camp, session II and
Ultimate Frisbee is Friday, June 23.

Swim lessons
Registration continues for the
second session of swim lessons at
the Trade Days office located in
Pedigo Park. Group lessons are
available for water babies (6 month
to 2 years) through adults with
morning and evening sessions. The
morning session begins on June 27
and will run for two weeks. Water'
babies and evening session begins
on July 10 and also runs for two
weeks. For more information, con-
tact the Parks and Recreation de-
partment at 327-5242.
Patriotic celebration planned
A patriotic celebration, complete
with a red, white and blue parade
and free fun and games for the
children, is being planned by
Livingston Main Street for July
4. The day will begin with a parade
at 10 a.m. Patriots of all ages are
welcome to join in the fun with
floats, bicycles, tricycles, walkers,
wagons, horses, cars, motorcycles
and other modes of transporta-
tion. The parade line-up will begin
on East Feagin Street and travel
south on Washington Avenue, turn-
ing right on Mill Street to dis-
perse. Two rules that apply to this
parade are: 1) decorate in red,
white and blue and 2) no throwing
any objects. If you have something
to distribute, please have someone
walk along the route handing the
item to the spectators (this is for the
safety of everyone involved). The
fun will continue with games and
fundraising activities at Anniver-
sary Park until I p.m. Free games
include two bounce houses, a bean
bag toss, horse rides, putt-putt golf,
football throw, water balloon toss
and more. There will be face paint-
ing and temporary tattoos for $ 1.00
each. Snow cones, cotton candy
and soft drinks will be available for
purchase. Mark vour calendar now
and don’t miss out on these fun
filled downtown activities!
