MAKING A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE
What makes Corrigan-Camden so special?
By VAN THOMAS

CORRIGAN—Teams make
the playoffs because of talented
players and quality coaches.
That combination dominates the
award winners during the Corrigan:
Camden High School All-Sports
bhnqupt in the school cafetorium.
A banquet crowd of more than
300 packed the cafetorium.. It was
an evening erf good food (T-bone
steaks), fun and honoring a super
group of girls and boys in the land
of HOME OF CHAMPIONS.
Coach York
Coach Todd York of Bulldog
Country said he had coaches and
fans from other schools to ask:
"What makes your program so
special? How do you all do it in
Corrigan-Camden, Texas? What is
the deal?
."It is very simple put," die
veteran coach said to the dinner
guests."I think it is two things,
expectations and persistence. Those
two words sum up what we do
best.
"Our expectations are high,
therefore, we do,” he said "When

about it We had rather lose games
with good kids than win games
with kids with questionable
character.
"Our kids believe that We show
time and time again what kind of
heart, what kind of mind you have
far out weighs what kind of athletic
ability you may have," he said.
"So, you look at why things are
successful at Corrigan-Camden," he
skid. "Don’t look at the awkward
things—we do have some real nice
things. You as a community voted
on. Our new high school gym and
grade school.
"We win because of tangible
things," he said. "We win because
our heart is big and because our
attitude is rightThose thing are
what makes us successful.
"The last key is persistence," he
said. "We have been knocked down
and picked ourselves back up in this
program many times. For two years
we went to Center, Texas, to win
the district championship and come
up short. Both times we all cried.
Second time we said were not going
to accept it any more and we are
going to finish the job.
"Kids know and because we
wouldn't accept it two years ago we
were able to win it last year,"
Coach York said with a big grin.
Track team
Corrigan-Camden's track and field
program rates with the best.
"We have dominated the track and
field program in this area for three
years," Coach York said.
"Dominated it all the way. No one
is to score 225 points in a district
track and field meet but Corrigan-
Camden, Texas.
