LIVINGSTON -- Funeral serv-
ices for James Carroll Sanders, 54,
of Livingston will be held at 10
a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 1995, from
the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel,
with the Rev. Butch Shipp officiat-
ing. Interment will follow at 2 p.m.
in Grand View Memorial Park,
Pasadena.
Mr. Sanders died Tuesday, Jan..
31, at his residence.
He was bom March 7, 1940 in
Lufkin, the son of Talmadgc and
Avis Sanders. On June 27, 1958 he
married the former Paula Ramsey
in Pearland.
Survivors include his wife, Paula
Sanders of Livingston; mother,
Avis Sanders of Sweeney; sons,
Robert Sanders of Livingston and
Tracy Sanders of Livingston;
daughters, Debra Delgado of
Pasadena, Cynthia Pyron of Deer
Park, Barbara Fletcher of Pasadena
and Melissa Durcll of Willis; sis-
ters, Patricia Smith of Centerville,
Betty Brewer of Palestine and Peg-
gy Homberger of New Ulm; and
nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Richard
Hornberger, Jimmy Burke, J.R.
Pyron, Jack Durcll, Charlie
Fletcher and Dave Delgado.
Cochran Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
CORRIGAN - Funeral services
for John Evan Handley, 83, of the
Hortense community will be held at
2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, 1995,
from the Corrigan Funeral Home
Chapel, with the Rev. Harry C.
Powell III officiating. Interment
will follow in Fcagin Cemetery.
Mr. Handley was bom Sept. 5,
1911 in the Hortense community
and died Monday night, Jan. 30, in
Tyler County Hospital.
He was the postmaster of the
Hortense community and a farmer.
Survivors include sisters. Mary
Rhodes of Vidor, Ha/el Powell of
Austin and Christine Dugger of
Corrigan; and brothers, Merrill
Handley of Hortense and Douglas
Handley of Nederland.
His nephews will serve as pal-
lbearers.
Corrigan Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
Mary Ella Greenleaf
Hobson Parrish
LIVINGSTON — Funeral serv-
ices for Hobson Parrish, 80, of Leg-
gett will be held at 2 p.m.
Thursday. Feb. 2, 1995, from the
Cochran Funeral Home Chapel,
with the Rev. Frank Hood officiat-
ing. Interment will follow in Par-
rish Cemetery.
Mr. Parrish died Jan. 30 in Diag-
nostic Hospital in Houston.
He was bom Dec. 19, 1914 in
the Hoitcnsc community, the son of
Bunyan Brown Parrish and Nancy
Caroline Usher. He was a logger
until 1972, when he retired and
started ranching.
He was preceded in death by his
parents and an infant brother and
sister.
Survivors include sons, Eugene
"Ham" Parrish and wife Verna Lee
of Livingston, Richard "Buddy"
Parrish and wife Robbie of Cor-
rigan and Charles L. "Speedy” Par-
rish and wife Adlove of Leggett;
grandchildren, Kimberly Parrish of
Austin, Amber and Kyle Parrish of
Livingston, Marly and Mickey Par-
rish of Corrigan, and Teri and Chad
Parrish of Leggett; brothers, Quen-
tin Parrish of Hortense, Orville Par-
rish and wife Novircc of Corrigan,
Thomas Ivy Parrish and wife
Lalaync of South Houston and
Marlin Parrish and wife Betty of
Kingwood; sisters, Flora "Sis"
Crawford of Beaumont, Addie Mae
Hill and husband Gail of
Cleveland, Dorotha Jones and hus-
band Kenneth of Seven Oaks, and
Gena Hestand and husband Ken of
Missouri City; and many nieces
and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Marly Par-
rish, Chad Parrish, Kyle Parrish,
Mickey Parrish, Boyce Parrish and
Mike Jones.
Cochran Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
Ernest Ray Grimes
LIVINGSTON - Funeral serv-
ices for Ernest Ray Grimes, 43, of
Livingston will be held at 1 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 3, 1995, from the
Cochran Funeral Home Chapel,
with the Rev. Bill Skaar officiating.
Interment will follow in Menard
Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Grimes died Jan. 30 in
Memorial Medical Center,
Livingston.
He was bom Jan. 30, 1952 in
Houston, the son of Ernest Taff
Grimes and Mary Emma Bass
Grimes. On June 6, 1972 he
married the former Sharon Pool in
Houston. •
Survivors include his wife,
Sharon Grimes of Livingston; son,
Roy Grimes and wife Candice of
Livingston; daughters, Angela Ful-
ler and husband Danny of
Livingston and Katrina Grimes of
Livingston; sisters, Evelyn Pool of
Livingston and Marylce Jones of
Houston; grandson, James Grimes
of Livingston; granddaughter,
Amanda Fuller of Livingston;
sisters-in-law, Shirley Connally and
husband Thomas of Livingston, Jo
Ann Boone of Livingston and Nor-
ma Bennett of Cleburne; brother-
in-law, Richard Pool of Livingston;
and numerous nieces, nephews and
other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Ervin Jones
Jr„ Jason Smith,' Christopher
Smith, Wayne Bass, Bobby Bennett
and Jessie W. Boone.

Income tax help offered
ONALASKA - Free income tax
assistance will be available for
citizens starting Monday, Feb. 6,
through the Tax-Aide program of
the American Association of
Volunteer counselors, trained in
cooperation with the IRS, will
operate counseling desks at the
Senior Citizens Building behind
Boles Super Market in Onalaska.
This service is free and will be
offered each Monday from 9 a.m.
until 1 p.m. through April 10.
Persons using this service should
bring copies of their previous
year’s Federal Tax Return and
forms for the current year, includ-
ing W-2s and other materials show-
ing income for the year.

the service, call Pat Reinhardt at

HOUSTON - Funeral services
for Mary Ella Greenleaf of Hous-
ton, formerly of Point Blank, will
be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4,
1995, from New Mount Calvary
Baptist Church, 4711 Kelly St. in
Houston, with Pastor Willie Jones
officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6-9
p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, in New Mount
Calvary Baptist Church and the
body will lie in state from 9-10
a.m. Saturday at the church.
Final viewing will be at Liberty
Primitive Baptist Church in Point
Blank, with interment to follow in
Liberty Cemetery at approximately
1 p.m. Saturday.
Mrs. Greenleaf died Saturday,
Jan. 28, in Green Acres Living
Center in Humble.
She was bom Oct. 1, 1921 in
Point Blank, the daughter of Silvia
and Tom Travis. She grew up in
San Jacinto County and attended
and graduated from San Jacinto
County public schools. At an early
age she confessed Christ and united
with Liberty Primitive Baptist
Church. Upon moving to Houston,
she united with New Mount Cal-
vary Baptist Church on Gregg
Street, which later relocated to Kel-
ly Street. She remained a faithful
member of New Mount Calvary,
under the leadership of Pastor
Willie Jones, until her health failed.
On Aug. 30, 1949 she married
Deacon Ben Greenleaf, who
preceded her in death. To this
union three children were bom and
she became mother for two beauti-
ful daughters. Mrs. Greenleaf was
employed by the Aldine Independ-
ent School District for 21 years,
most of which was spent working
with special students at Ellen B.
Lane Center. Mrs. Greenleaf was a
member of the North Houston
Heights Civic CliibrATdme Retired
Teachers Association, New Mount
Calvary Deaconess Board and the
Women’s Mission Department of
the Sister’s Aid Association, the
Herons of Jericho and the Court of
Calanthus. She was known as a
beautiful, fun-loving, Christian
woman who was loved and
respected by all who came in con-
tact with her.
Survivors include six children,
Lister M. Greenleaf, Bcitie J. Ag-
new, Diunna F. Greenleaf and
Kevin T. Greenleaf, all of Houston,
Nettie J. Edwards of Lubbock and
Ursula B. White of Livingston; two
sisters, Carrie Madden and Teolar
Liggins, both of Point Blank; sister-
in-law, Helen Travis of Point
Blank; aunt, Martha Rogers of
Phelps; a special "play sister",
Vcrtic Lee Brantley of Cleveland;
nine grandchildren; one great-
grandchild and a host of nieces,
nephews and other relatives and
dear friends. She was preceded in
death by a brother, Bill Travis.
Duncan Funeral Home, Houston,
is in charge of arrangements.
LIVINGSTON - Funeral serv-
ices for Joseph Weldon Bailey, 79,
of Votaw were held Wednesday,
Feb. 1, 1995, from the Pace Funeral
Home Chapel, with Bro. Anson
Cox officiating. Interment followed
in Holly Grove Cemetery.
Mr, Bailey died Jan. 30 in Hous-
ton.
He was bom Feb. 8, 1915 in Fu-
qua, the son of William Earl Bailey
and Ira Savannah Rhodes Bailey.
He was reared in Village Mills and
attended school there and at Holly
Grove. Mr. Bailey joined the
Civilian Conservation Corps in the
early 30s. He married the former
Jennie Lcnorc Collins in 1961 in
the Sunflower community in Polk
County. v
Mr. Bailey went to work for Kir-
by Lumber Co. and worked there
until 1977, where he retired as a
lotcstcr. Mr. Bailey was a resident
of Votaw after his retirement. He
devoted much of his time to farm-
ing. He was a member of the Holly
Grove Baptist Church. ^
Survivors include his wife,
Jennie Lcnorc Bailey of Votaw;
two sons, James Larry Baikfy of
Baytown and Charles Ray Bailey
of Silsbcc; two stepsons, Albert
Sutton of Port Arthur and Alton
Sutton of New Orleans, La.; two
stepdaughters, Billie Vezina of
Segno and Genevieve Jackson of
Votaw; brother, Reginald Bailey of
Rye; live sisters, Lena Dillon of
Houston, Lona Gerber of Houston,
Bessie Warien of Woodvillc and
Marjorie Jean Townsend of Austin;
eight grandchildren; six great-
grandchildren; and a host of other
relatives and dear friends.
Pallbearers weir Glenn Jackson,
Matthew Jackson, Jeff Jackson, Al-
bert Sutton, Charles Elcry Jones
and Carlton Bailey.
Pace, Funeral Home was in
