What do our boys have here in
town to keep them busy and in-
terested ?
We had a Cub Scout troop here
which was organized by the PTA
of which Billy Browne was Cub
Scout Master. When duty called
Mr. Browne away our Cub Scout
troop almost disappeared. The
PTA, of which Mrs. J. E. Brown
is president, has now started to
re-organize the troop. We have
had a series of meetings promis-
ed us from the Alamo Council,

The reception that was to he
given in Kerrville after the wed-
ding of Miss Mary Trejo on March
9, has been called off due to illness.
JEAN FOCKE RECEIVES
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Recently initiated into Delta
Zcta sorority at the University of
Texas was Margaret Jeanne Focke
of Bandera.
Miss Focke received a scholar-
ship award at the initiation ban-
quet for maintaining a B average
last semester. She is the daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Focke,
Circle J Ranch, Bandera.
Miss Focke is a Freshman at
the University, majoring in Edu-
cation.
Among the visitors in Frontier
Times Museum last Sunday were
Mr. and Mrs. C. A. George, Mr.
and Mi s. W. D. Baker, and Mr. and
Mrs. Wilhur Moring, all of Grand
Prairie. They came down to Ban-
dera especially to see our museum,
and were very much pleased with
what they saw therein.

I, James R. Duncan of Hondo,
Texas, was on the 9th day of Feb-
ruary appointed receiver by the
District Court of Medina County,
in Texas, in Cause No. 4872 en-
titled the Sprott Heirs et. al.; for
the purpose of selling t* the high-
est bidder 230 acres of farm land
located about 26 miles north of
Hondo and about 4 miles south of
Tarpley in Medina county in Sur-
vey No. 493, R. M. Williams.
The sale of this land will be
under the supervision of said Coun-
ty Court. Anyone interested in
bidding on the purchase of said
land may contact me.
Sealed bids will be opened at
a time and place to be announced
later. The right is reserved to
reject any or all bids not repre-
senting a fair value of the trans-
action involved.

Mrs. A. A. Jeffers, Reporter
Grandma Wright, mother of G.
M. Mickelsen was taken to the
Sid Peterson Memorial hospital in
Kerrville last week, very ill. Word
has been received here thut she
is improving and will be able to
come home this week. We are
very glad to know she is much
better.
Mrs. Guin Maddin of Alto, Tex-
as, visited the A. A. Jeffers Thurs-
day evening and night. Mrs. Mad-
din has the interesting work of
getting up history of old churches.
Her work here was concerned
with the organization of the Bap-.
fist Church about 1890 in a school
house on the Coffey, ranch. This
school house was burned and the '
records too. The only preachers I
then just came through once in '
a while, mostly on horse-back. It
is possible that no records were
kept, but anyone who can help i
with information about any of
the history of this church up to
1903 are requested to write Mrs.
Ciuin Maddin, Atlo, Texas, or Mrs.
A. A. Jeffers, Tarpoly, Texas. The
hooks will be ready for the pub-
lishers in abaut one month and
you) help will be greatly appre-
ciated.

Jean Cornelison took a load of
fill cattle to San Antonio Market
Monday. .
Ike Evans made a business trip
to Hondo Monday.
Mrs. Lewis Dean and daugh-
ter, Joyce, Mrs. M. G, Dean of
D’Hanis visited in the A. Jeffers
and Mrs. B. Wood’s homes Mon-
lay. Little Miss Alta and Marie
Wood returned home with them to
visit this week.
Rev. Ira Garrison preached here
last Sunday and will preach here
again next Sunday. Everyone is
welcome and urged to come out
and hear him.
Leroy Erfurt left Monday to
visit his brother and family, Mr.
