Completes Course
ELGIN, May 7 (Spl) — Ron-
nie Jack Cottle of Elgin has
completed a special course in di-
gital computers while enrolled as
a freshman engineering student
at the University of Texas, A. W.
Bell, principal of Elgin High
School, with salutatorian honors,
dean of engineering.
A graduate of Elgin High
School, with salutorian honors,
Cottle along with other engineer
freshmen, was selected to receive
this course in computers, which
will enable him to progress more
efficiently toward his professional
degree.
Cottle is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Aubrey Cottle of Elgin.

930 Rattlers Taken
In Roundup
OKEENE, Okla. m — Man’s
fascination with serpents reached
its yearly peak here this weekend
with the 23rd annual Okeene rat-
tlesnake roundup.
Hundreds of hunters, armed
with long-handled snares and gun-
ny sacks, captured 930 rattle-
snakes in the Gypsum Hills near
here. About 17,000 persons were
on hand for a look at the catch.
The roundup, a three-day event,
includes a rattlesnake banquet,
dance and awards dinner. Hunters
were paid .50 cents a pound for
snakes big enough to be butcher-
ed and eaten.
The Junior Chamber of Com-
merce, sponsor of the roundup,
will sell the frozen snake meat at
*52.50 a pound.

F. Kennedy spent nearly two
hours Sunday with her hospitaliz-
ized father-in-law and told news-
men afterwards that he was
“fine, thank you.”
Joseph P. Kennedy, 73, the
President’s father, is undergoing
rehabilitation treatment here for
the effects of a stroke.
Mrs. Kennedy plans to meet to-
day with her White House com-
mittee on painting and fine arts.
She will fly to Groton, Conn.,
Tuesday for the lanuching of the
nuclear submarine Lafayette.
