ARE YOU HARD
OF HEARING
Mr. Rhye, who is our MAICO
Audiotican, will hold his regular
Hearing Center in The Blazilmar
Hotel in Taylor Tuesday June
26th, frc:u 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you have a hearing problem
of any kind feel
free to come in
and sit down
and talk it over
without having
someone trying
to high pressure
you into buying
something that
you don’t need
or that is mis-
Mr. Hhye. fitting. If you
wear a Hearing Aid, but can’t
hear with it there is a good pos-
sibility that your hearing has
changed or your Aid has chang-
ed. By testing you and your Aid
in most cases with an adjust-
ment on the Aid you are hearing
again. If you are hard of heatring
and don’t wear a Hearing Aid
you owe it to yourself to come1
in for the test. (The test costs
yu nothing.) So many people

F art wearing a Hearing Aid.
H'A is NOT Hue T5'^ e are so
io .n o jfc ng:: lb t can be done for
the h rd of hearing other than
wearing a Hearing Aid. There are
two major things that cause peo-
ple to get into serious trouble
with their hearing. One: they keep
putting off having a test made
until they have seriously damag-
ed their hearing. Two: People
that wear Hearing Aids that are
not matched to their hearing
loss. Lots of people think be-
cause they spent lots of money
for a Hearing Aid and was told
that was Prescription made that
they have what is best for them.
It’s true Hearing Aids are Pre-
scription made, but so are aspirin,
but we know that aspirin will
not cure all of our ills and we
must have a Prescription com-
pounded for ou'r sickness. So
is a big difference in Pre-

it costs less.
If you are unable to come to
the Blazilmar Hotel at the above
hours please call Mr. Rhye and
he will come to your1 home or

you.

Howser Has Bauer's
Vote for Top Player
AP Newsfeature
Dick Howser is only 155i
pounds and 5-f'eet-9 but Manager
Hank Bauer of the Kansas City
Athletics thinks his leadoff bat-
ter ought to make the American
League All-Star team for the sec
ond straight time.
“He certainly is doing a fine
job for us,” says Bauer. “I have
no problems with him leading off.
The amazing thing is that in his
first 40 games he had driven in
25 runs.”
Bauer made Howser his cap-
tain last summer soon after Hank
replaced Joe Gordon as manager
on June 19, 1961. And the former
Yankee slugger has never had
any occasion to regret the move.
“It was quite an honor for a
rookie,” says Howser who hit
.280 and stole 37 bases in 46 at-
tempts as a freshman. “Hank
stayed with me and I played 157
games.”
No American League shortstop
saw that much action. Howser
was third in the league in double
plays, trailing only Tony Kub'ek
of the Yankees and Ron Hansen
of the Orioles, both of whom have
been in the Army this spring.
Possibly only Chicago’s Luis
Aparicio figures to get more
votes than Howser in the ballot-
ing for the All-Star squad. Yankee
Tom Tresh, who has been leading
the circuit’s shorstops in hitting,
will draw good support for the
All-Star games. The first is set
for July 10- in the new Washing-
ton, D. C., Stadium, the second in
Chicago’s Wrigley Field on July
30.
“I think Howser will make the
squad,” says Bauer. “He has
teamed well with J’erry Lumpe,
whom I consider the best second
basemen in the league this sea-
son.”
Aparicio, who stole 53 bases in
66 tries last year, has it on How-
ser in base path speed but the

Merit in farm mechanics, award-

Neil C. Hurley Jr., founder of

'Mr. Bison'
immortal
At Sunset
DALLAS </P) — Poor Mr. Bison,
mascot of Sunset High School,
finally retired recently, and cer-
tainly it was time for the old
fellow to get some rest.
Mr. Bison was a mounted head
of a buffalo, as they are called
in the Southwest. It was in the
central hall of the school.
The head showed its age and
shopwear after 30 years.
“I’d been keeping a lookout for
a replacement for several
years,” said H. S. Griffin, Sun-
set’s principal.
“Old Bison was in poor condi-
tion,” added the schoolman.
“He’d been stolen three times.
Once we found him in a rain-
filled hole.
“He also had his beard singed
many years ago by a laboratory
explosion.”
He has been replaced by a new,
shaggy-haired head, rough enough
appearing to satisfy the most
avid fan of hard-nosed football.
The head was donated by C. M.
Brantley Jr. of Dallas whose
