Oil Dealers Meet
And Organize to
Enforce NRA Code
A meeting of dealers in petroleum
products to organize for the purpose
of enforcing the NRA code for thc
industry in this zone was held at the
Jefferson Hotel Saturday afternoon,
there are five counties in the zone,
as follows: Hopkins, Franklin, Camp,
Morris and Titus and each of the
counties had representatives present
except Hopkins.
Arthur Dyer and Mr. Moore, both
from the regional office in Dallas,
were present, and explained to the
thirty or more dealers than an organ-
ization for the enforcement of the
code of fair competition is necessary,
saying that the dealers themselves
must see that the code is enforced,
and that the zone organization must
bear its own expense.
Acording to Mr. Dyer, Texas is di-
vided into 19 districts and 37 zones,
and that the organization completed
will be for zone 35 of district 7.
Earl M. Lide was elected chairman
of the zone committee, with C. B.
Mullinax as secretary.
Investigation committees of three
men each were appointed for each
county in the zone. Every filling
station operator and dealer in petro-
leum products was made a member of
the organization, and dues were tem-
porarily set at 25c per month for
each member to bear the necessary
expense of the organization.
Mr. Dyer explained that the code,
which has already been adopted, be-
comes a law in the next few days, and
that violators of the code will be sub-
jected to Federal prosecution. He
asked that the investigation commit-
tee, where a charge has been made,
explain the code to the violator, and
that in practically all instances the
violations would cea^p.
Another meeting of the organiza-
tion yvill be held in Mt. Pleasant on
Monday night, December 4th, and aft-
er that date meetings will be held,
each Monday night, alternating with
the towns in the district.
