To Those I Love
and
Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, let
me go
I have so many things to do and
see.
You mustn't tie yourself to me
with tears,
Be happy that we had so many
years.
I gave you my love, you can only
guess
How much you gave me in
happiness.
I thank you for the love you each
have shown,
But now it’s time I travel on alone.
So grieve awhile, if grieve you
must
Then, let your grief be comforted
by trust.
It’s only for awhile that we must
part,
So bless the memories within your
heart.
I won’t be far away, for life goes
on.
So, if you need me, call and I will
come.
Though you can’t see or touch me.
I’ll be near
And if you listen with your heart,
You’ll hear all my love around you
soft and clear.
And then, when you must come
this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and say,
Welcome Home!

Christmas we spent together

My memories keep me to

to be jolly. That’s the day Christ

Why do Christians celebrate
Christmas? Christ never com-

gifts and feasting. Probably this is
ho* we amved at December 25th,
as the time to celebrate Christ’s
birth.
Christmas celebration is a valu-
able tool for evangelism because it
gives us opportunity to tell the
world what we’ve celebrating - the
Incarnation of Jesus Christ.
When Jesus was bora of the Vir-
gin Mary in Bethlehem, He was
God in tire flesh. • It was a fulfill -
ment of Isaiah’s prophecy made
700 years earlier, “the virgin will
be with child and will give birth to
a son, and will call him' Im-
manuel” Immanuel, God is with
us!

With Christian liberty. Chris-
tians can celebrate special days or
not. Each one should be fully con-
vinced in his own mind.
The apostle Paul in Romans 14.5
was probably referring to the
passover and other Jewish feasts
rather than any distinctively Chris-
tian holy day. Many pagan and
secularists celebrate Christmas.
They put up trees, exchange gifts ^
and have family feasts, to them,
Christinas is a cultural thing.
Each year, Christmas is getting
bigger in Japan. In some places in
the U.S., where only 4% of the
population go to church, almost *'

New Orleans’
murder count
drops for
2nd year
NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans’
murder count for 1996 stood at 346
on Monday. Although nobody is say-
ing it is a reason to celebrate, police
note that this will be the second
consecutive year that the number
of murders has declined.
New Orleans fcagjthe third-high-
est murder rate in the nation last
year, with 364. In 1994, the city had
the country’s highest murder rate,
with 421 people killed.
Police spokesman Marlon Defillo
said the decrease comes at a time
when the Police Department is bad-
ly understaffed.
Police Superintendent Richard
Pennington, who instituted tough-
er hiring standards when he took
office in 1994, has repeatedly said
that his department is down by
more than 200 officers.
Police attribute the decrease in
killings to a decentralization of the
department, putting more people in
district offices and on the streets.
Mr. Defillo also credited high quali-
ty police work and a good working
