have been committed in this self
same strip. Mr. Bagby was em-
ployed as counsel for the de
fense, and had but little trouble
in securing a dismissal for his
client on the ground that the al-
leged offense had not been com
mitted in Lavaca, nor any other
county.

County Cigar to Mr. M.G. Cal-
vert Mr, Lehmann is deeply
interested in the tobacco culture
and diversified farming. He
says the land of Mr. J. R. West-
moreland, which was shown
him, is just as fine for tobacco
as any land on earth. The to
bacco industry of Hallettsville
has grown to enormity, and over
200 acres will be planted in to-
bacco the coming year. The ci-
gar factory already employs
quite a number of men. The
sale of cigars is rapidly increas
ing and all pronounce them to be
of an excellent grade of cigars.—
