Drive sober
or get
pulled over
Law enforcement will be ag-
gressively looking for impaired
drivers Impaired driving is one
of Texas’ most often committed
and deadliest crimes.
In an effort to get impaired
drivers off the road, raise public
awareness about the dangers of
impaired driving, and most im-
portantly, to save more lives and
prevent injuries on our roadways,
a nationwide impaired-driving
enforcement crackdown, “Drive
Sober or Get Pulled Over,” will
be conducted from August 17
through Labor Day, September 3.
Law enforcement officers across
the state will be aggressively
looking for impaired drivers and
will arrest anyone caught driving
impaired.
Statistics show that when
the public’s received risk of be-
ing arrested for impaired driving
increases, they are less likely to
drink and drive. It is illegal to
drive with a blood alcohol con-
centration (BAC) of .08 or higher
in all 50 states. Yet 1,075 people
died in Texas in 2010 in impaired
driving crashes in which at least
one vehicle drive or motorcycle
rider had a BAC of .08 or higher.
“Driving impaired is sim-
ply not worth the risk, so don’t
take the chance. Remember, law
enforcement will be out in force
and will be watching, so ‘Drive
Sober or Get Pulled over.’” said
McLennan County Extension
Agent Deanna Franklin.
