WMS MEETS
The Women's Missionary Society of the Na-
tal ta Baptist Church met Monday at the church
for their mission study and covered dish lunch-
eon.
Mrs. S. A. Mays, mission chairman, had
charge of the program. Mrs. Mays, Mrs. A. L.
Simmons and Mrs. F. L. Graham led the study
of the book, The American Jew. Mrs. T. J.
White gave the history of the Jews. Mrs. E. H.
Whittington gave the opening and closing
prayers.
Mrs. Ray Hife and son, Steve, from Hurst
came Wednesday night for a visit with her
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald
P. Richardson and to welcome her grandson,
Char les Eric who was born Sunday night. Mrs.
Hife and Steve are also visiting her parents, Mt
and Mrs. G. W. Schacht.
Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Moses entertained with
a family dinner at their home Sunday. Guests
were their sons, daughter-in-law and grand-
children, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Moses, Terry
Lynn Moses and J. B. Moses from Devine; Miss
Cornelia Rowlett from Hondo and their great-
granddaughter, Kami Lynn Hyatt, also from De-
vine.
Mr. Ruel Pankey was admitted to the Bap-
tist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio Monday
for major surgery. He is making a satisfactory
recovery but he has encountered some compli-
cations. His sons, Wesley Pankey and Sonny
Pankey, and his son-in-law, Gussie Uhlig have
been taking turns at sitting up with him.
Mr. and Mrs. Scott W i 11 i a m s went to
Georgetown Sunday to attend the reunion of
the descendants of her parents, the late Mr. and
Mrs. John McCann.
Seaman First Class Tommy Fellers from
Treasure Island, San Francisco, left Sunday by
plane for his new assignment in Pearl Harbor
after a 15 days leave with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. L. Fellers.
Mr. and Mrs. Duard Holsey, Susanne and
Kathleen from Port Lavaca came Thursday for
a few days visit with the W. L. Fellers.
Staff Sergeant and Mrs. Tommy Little and
her father, Earl Evans, went to Dallas Wednes-
day. The Littles visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Kay. Debbie, Cheryl and Timmy accompa-
nied them home. They went to see Six Flags
Over Texas. Enroute home they viewed the
Capitol at Austin and the Aquarena at San
Marcos. Mr. Evans who went to visit his sisters,
Mrs. Bonnie Briggs and Mrs. Alma Jordan, re-
mained for a longer visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hargroves and Anna May
from San Antonio spent Sunday afternoon with
Mr. and Mrs. Melton McMillan and sons.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan F. Stoy went to Uvalde
Thursday for the night with their son and fam-
ily, the H. E. Stoys.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Saldana, Joe, Zelma,
Cynthia, Eddie and Roland returned home Sat-
urday night after a three-weeks vacation. They
visited Mrs. Saldana's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Lopez, and her sisters, the Armando San-
chez and the Fred Martinez families at Ham-
mond, Indiana. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Humberto
Valdez at Highland, Indiana, her brother, the
Joe Lopez family, at Lake City, Indiana; and
Mr. Saldana's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. E-
liser Garsa in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Hanson and children, Jan-
ice, Ricky, Kenny and Harlan returned home
Monday after a 16-days vacation touring New
Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho,
Washington, Oregon, Arizona and Canada. They
visited her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. V. W.
Landrum and family at Mendota and Fresno,
California and Mr. Hanson's aunt and uncle,
Mr. and Mrs. Newell Smith in Porterville, Cal-
ifornia.
R. L. White and children, Lois and Johnny
Ray, left Sunday morning for their home in
Pontotoc, Mississippi, after visiting a week
with his mother, Mrs. R. E. White; and his sis-
ters, Mrs. A. L. Miller and Mrs. J. W. Clawson.
Mrs. J. W, Clawson accompanied her broth-
er, R. L. White, as far as Houston where she
visited Mrs. J. W. Miller and Judy Lynn.
Jo Ann Lessing left Wednesday n i g h t by
plane for Los Angeles to visit heraunt and un-
cle, Mr. and Mrs. James Stroud. She will work
in her uncle's office as a file clerk.
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lessing, Mark, Beth,
Janet, Michael, Carolyn, Cynthia and Kenneth
and Johnny Vance and the Alex Ehlingers mo-
tored to Leakey Sunday for a picnic outing on
the Frio River,
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Brown received word
Monday that her brother, Oscar Hodo, 74, of
Hamlin, Texas, had passed away after a linger-
ing illness. The Browns and their daughter,
Mrs. R. L. Love of San Antonio; their son, Ve-
noy Brown and his daughter, Jeanie of Lytle;
and Mrs. Brown's sister, Mrs. Bessie Moody also
of Lytle, went to Hamline Tuesday to attend
the funeral. The group went to Roby for the
night with the Browns' son and family, the Od-
dis Browns.
Brother and Mrs. Henry Brigman, David,
Jeana, and Laurie returned home Friday after
a visit in Albuquerque with his mother, Mrs.
Doris Brigman. They assisted her in moving to
Houston where she will be employed by the
Texas Medical Center. Mrs. Brigman came
Saturday af ternoon for the weekend with her
son and family before journeying on to Hou-
ston Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Hurry, Harold, Mickey,
and Bonnie entertained with a church-wide
fellowship at their home Saturday night,

Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Haass and children spent
last weekend with relatives in San Antonio.
Miss Patsy Hitzfelder from San Antonio is
spending two weeks with Richard and Ella Ba-
der.
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Hutzler and D a v id
and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hutzler and family at-
tended the golden wedding at St. Louis Church
and the reception at Koenig Par k Sunday
morning honoring Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mechler.
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Billings and children
from San Antonio visited her parents, the Frank
Rihns Thursday.
Mrs. Dennis Mollguar d and Connie of San
Antonio visited her parents, the O. K. Schmidts
one day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Haass and children
from Longville, La., spent their vacation here
with his patents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Posch and
other relatives in San Antonio last week.
Last Sunday afternoon visitors in the Adolph
Hutzler home were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin
Haass.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Posch were business vis-
itors in Hondo Friday.
Mrs. Della Boehme and Mrs. Dora Bader
visited last week with their nephew and neice,
Richard and Ella Bader.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bader, Miss Patsy Hitz-
felder, and Richard and Ella Bader, were din-
ner guests Thursday evening of Mr. and Mrs.
Char les Miller and family, who honored Mr.
and Mrs. Leo Haass and children of Amarillo.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Posh visited Friday after-
noon with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bilhartz.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hutzler and children,
Tim, Vivian, Belinda and Debbie from Lan-
caster, California, arrived Friday night for two
weeks visit with their respective parents, the
Adolph Hutzlers and the Otto Bendeles in Hon-
do.
Miss Nancy Mann, 14-year-old daughter of
the Otto Mann Jrs. of Big Foot, underwent a
cornea eye transplant at the Baptist Memorial
Hospital last Friday. She had an eye injury in
January, 1965, when a golf ball hit her glasses
and the plastic frame cut her eye. She had
been on the-alert list for the past few weeks
waiting to be called in for surgery.

lowship at their home Saturday night. Games
of forty-two, dominoes and wa-hoo were play-
ed. Refreshments of ice cream, cake, pies, cof-
fee and punch wer e served. Harold Hurry is
director of the training union department of
the Natalia Baptist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Morris returned home
Monday after visiting over the weekend in Fort
Worth with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas Morris, Glenna, Carol and Sandra.
While they were on the trip their daughter and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Martin, Tommy,
Gail and Morris of San Antonio came out and
stayed in the Morris home.
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin W. Thannisch, F ay-
etta, Fonda and Neil returned home Saturday,
after a two weeks vacation visiting her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Weare and other relatives in
Lonoke, Arkansas, and his father, R. G. Than-
nisch, and other relatives in Harrison, Arkan-
sas.
Mr. and Mrs. Rotan Payne went to Wood-
ville, Texas, Monday and visited until Thurs-
day with Mr. Payne's brother and sistet-in-law
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Payne. They report a very
enjoyable trip. While there they visited the
Alabama Coushatta Indian Reservation of Tex-
as located at Indian Village. They found the
Indians quite interesting and an example of
contentment in their surroundings.

The A. K, Yarbroughs have been vacation-
ing at their lake cabin since last Monday. A,
K. became very ill Wednesday and was admit-
ted as a patient at the Castroville Hospital un-
til Friday when he was transfered to the Santa
Rosa Hospital in San Antonio. He underwent
surgery and is reported doing fairly well. His
friends and relatives all wish him a speedy re-
cover y.
Mrs. J. D. Schweers visited Mrs. Mathilda
Schmidt and Mrs. Sam Tschirhart last Tues-
day afternoon.
News reached here Sunday of the passing a-
way of Mr. Charles Toepperwein of San Anton-
io. He is survived by a son, Leo, who resides
in Castroville,
Mrs, Dora Bader spent last Tuesday with
Mrs, Lina Fuos.
Diane Marie Holubec and her brother, F, J.
Jr. of Castroville are vacationing with their
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs, Joe Holubec a t
Caldwell, Texas.
Mr, and Mrs. J. W. Yarbrough, Johnnie and
Tommy of San Antonio all called on Mr. Yar-
brough's father Thursday, while he was in the
Castroville Hospital and called on his mother
