be held at the gym Saturday
night, Oct. 29th. All who will
are requested to come in cos-
tumes. The grand parade will
be staged at eight o'clock. Suit-

Obituary
Funeral services were held
Wednesday afternoon for Jack
McDaniel, who was killed
Tuesday. He was bom April
11, 1914, and died Oct. 18,
1938. He was married to Mias
Mattie Joe Murphy. Feb. 6,
1937. He is survived by his
wife, his mother; two sisters,
Mts. Byron Kirkland of Carth-
age, and Miss Ivy McDaniel of
Houston; two brothers, Wylie
McDaniel of Carthage and
James McDaniel of Houston.
Key. Bly of the Gary Meth-
odist church and Rev. Garrett
of Carthage had charge of the
funeral services. TTie pall-
bearers were: Ivan Ingran,
Leo Page, Lenard Smith of
Gary, J. M. Kyle, Eugene
Walker, Robbie Harkrider,
Harold Cedenhead of Carth-
age.
Interment was made in the
Gary cemetery.
A few out-of-town Mends

Dr. Smith, Bill Cranford, Mr.

New Prospect, Oet. 26.—Dig-
ging sweet potatoes, stripping
cane and cooking syrup is the
order of the day.
Mrs. W. H. McCarter and
Mrs. S. A. Evans are improv-
ing, which will be glad news to
their Mends.
Our very able young pastor,
Rev. C. E. McGilvray, preach-
ed his last sermon of the con-
ference year last Sunday. Our
church would be glad to have
him another year.
The last quarterly confer-
ence was held at the Methodist
church in Timpson Tuesday af-
ternoon.

spent the week-end here with

Mrs. Tom Ramsey, who was
operated upon at a Center san-
itarium last week Is doing nice-
ly, and will be able to return
home in a short time.

is spending this week with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
McCarver.
Mrs. Effie Shepherd of Timp-
son visited relatives and at-
tended church here Sunday.
Miss Bessie Shepherd of
Buena Vista is visiting her
aunt, Mrs. J. W. Hendrick:

quite ill the past few days.

parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hardy

A pie supper will be given
at the Waterman school
Thursday night, Nov. 3. The
event is for the benefit of the
school.
Mr. and Mrs. Theron Smith
of Opelousas, La., were here
Monday and Tuesday for a
visit with Mr. Smith’s father,
J. A. Smith, and uncle and
aunt, Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
Cruger. The Smiths were en
route from Houston to Orange,
the latter place concluding
their vacation of two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bryan
and children of Trees, La., en-
joyed a visit of several hours
last Sunday with the gentle-
man’s mother, Mrs. C. M. Bry-
an of this city.

Buster Crump of Dickinson
and Miss Frances Hard age of
this community were quietly
married Sunday morning, Rev.
J. A. Derrick performing the
ceremony.
Mr. Crump is a son of Kale
Crump of Silas, while the bride
is the youngest daughter of
Mia. Will Hardage of this com-
munity.
This popular young couple
have a large circle of friends
who wish them much happi-
ness and prosperity in their
new relationship.
Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Crump
and family attended the Louis-
iana State Fair Sunday.

where they attended the fair.

baby of Timpson spent two
days this week with her moth-
er, Mrs. R. L. Dillon, who has
been ill for several days.

The fourth, fifth, sixth and
seventh grade children have
organized a Good Citizen Club
which has a regular meeting
and program each Friday af-
ternoon from 3 to 4 o’clock.

Much interest is being

of Nacogdoehes, made a few
hours visit in Timpson Thurs-
day.

Mis. Bertie Barton Jones,
aged 42, died Wednesday af-
ternoon at 4:30 o’clock at her
home in the Buena Vista com-
munity. Funeral services were
held Thursday at 3 p. m. in
the Blair community, the Rev.
V. O. Cornelius conducting
rites. Burial was in the Blair
cemetery under the direction
of the Taylor Estate Funeral
Home.
Pallbearers were: Rufus

Deceased is survived by her

Caledonia last Tuesday even-
ing. was attended by large
numbers from various points of
the district. “Building the
Membership" was the theme
for the meeting, and a helpful
and interesting program was
rendered.
