1 The Governor turned down
a House-sponsored proposal
that would have postponed all
action on the sweeping reform
proposals, holding the debate
laden issues over for consider-
ation by a special session.
The Governor read his an-
sw»r, a two and one-half page
statement, to a committee of
House members headed by
Reps. John Crosthwait of Dal-
las and Jimmy P. Korany of
Archer City.
Consideration of the meas-
ures has virtually stopped all
other business in the House,
resulting in a legislative log
jam threatening to block en-
actment of a score of other
bills.
The Legislature ia now two-
thirds of the way through its
normal 120-day session.

OPERATIONS ON K. L. BARTON TRACT.
This section is to get another important test
for oil and gas, and as a result interest in the area
is growing daily.
For the past few days workmen have
been building an improved road and clearing site
for Arkansas Fuel Oil Company’s second test, in
the area, four miles northeast of Garrison and five
miles southwest of Timpson. The location is one
mile northeast of the Sarah B. Adams well., which
was drilled last fall by Arkansas Fuel with suffi-
cient gas showing to be termed a new gas field dis-
covery. The new test falling in Rusk county, has
been staked as the No. I K. L. Barton, John Ed-
wards survey, 555 feet from the southeast and 3,-
521 feet from the southwest lines of a 107.25-acre
tract, about half-way between the old and new
highways, approximately 500 yards from the At-
toyac River. It will seek the Travis Peak to 7,500
feet. The No. 1 Adams was completed in the Pet-
tit at 7,109-19 for 1,310,000 feet of gas daily.
Arkansas Fuel has several thousand acres of
land under lease in the area, extending to within a
short distance of the business section of Timpson.
