Mr. and Mrs. Forest Hen-
drick of Anabuac, are enjoying
a pleasant week-end visit with
the gentleman’s mother, Mrs.
J. W. Hendrick, and brother,
Sam Hendrick of the New
Prospect community. Mr.
Hendrick, a former citizen of
this community, is a band in-
structor and has a school band
with an 85-piece instrumenta-
tion. He has, we believe, the
ideal visualized by the band-
master. A brand new brick
and shell building has beer
constructed. An arena to ac-
commodate the band in rehear-
sal, 300 seats for visitors, office
for instructor, dressing rooms
and lockers for uniforms, are
some of the features of the
bsnd hall.
Miss Ann Etta Moss, student
State University, was a guest
"in the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.
R. Bussey Thanksgiving day.
Ficd MacMurray and Ma-
deleine Carroll, teamed for the
second time, prove that they
are among the screen’* peers
when it comes to romantic
teams, in Paramonnt’s “Honey-
moon in Bali," a gay romantic
comedy, which opens at the
Palace Theatre Sunday.
Using a smart New York de-
partment store, Nassau and
Bali for background, the pic-
ture casts the etherally lovely
Miss Carroll as a depart- t
store executive who is v. "..rap-
ped up in bejng competent end
independent,that she has nc
time for romance. Fred is cart
a; the young man who is the
disturbing factor in her little
scheme of things—a reckless
carefree adventurer who has
just returned from Bali, and is
more or less convinced that
woman’s place is in the home
and in a man’s arms. Allan
Jones, co-starred with Fred
and Miss Carroll, is cast as an
opera singer who is also ar-
dently interested in Miss Car-
roll.
Getting under way in the
purlieus of Manhattan, the
story finds Miss Carroll meet-
ing MacMurray just after his
return from Ball. Aware that
she has fallen in lore with him,
she refuses to express her love
and remains within her shell
even when another girl—one
of Fred’s old friends and still
in love with him—appears or
the screen.
Fred’s next move is to at-
tempt to get her to take care of
a cute little four-year-old girl,
left on his hands by a friend.
At first she refuses, but ths
woman in her asserts itself,
and she decides to take the
child for a while.
By this time, Madeleine is
so desperately in love with
Fred that she is, in the word-
of a quaint old saying, terid--
