in the past as a supply base
for nearby Munda air base
which underwent its 91st raid
of the war Friday—the same
day that heavy bombers again
attacked Vila and the north-
ern Solomons air bases at Ka-
hili and Ballale. The Friday
attacks were described as
"minor."
In the past fortnight, Vila
has become virtually the num-
ber one American target in
the Solomons.
The communique also gave
evidence of a mounting aerial
offensive against Jap-held
Kiska. It reported that on
successive afternoons, bomb-
carrying Curtiss Warhawk
lighters bombed and strafed
enemy positions on that north
Pacific outpost.
The Heeling Power
of Faith |
I was in trouble. Friends:
came to me. “Our money is;
yours; draw on us for what:
you need,” they said.
But money wasn't what I
needed. Another friend came
along. “J understand,” he told,
he. And then he gave liberal-;
ly of confidence and encour-
agement and brotherly love.
"I have faith in you, my boy,"
he said. "You'll pull through
all right because you’re on the
right track. I have faith in
you.”
And that faith helped me
more than mere dollars could
have done. What moet of us
need, whether we realize it or
not, is someone to believe in
us.—Jerome P. Fleishman in
Your Life Magazine.

Harlingen, Tex. (UP)—Cab-
bage prices in the Valley have
hit $100 a ton for the first
time in almost 20 years.
While the rest of the nation
is getting cabbage, growers
are raking in the gravy. The
price, however, was not gen-
eral and was only paid to fill
out some cars.
Officials say ceilings on
cabbage prices would not per-
mit that much to be paid as
the highest price listed before
ceilings went into effect was
$90 a ton.

Do on leas—and boy a bond—

Te oar Inijs noon the pond.

The things Usds Sam—wBI let ns have—
