SOIL DISTRICT SUPERVISORS—The supervisors of the
Shelby-Panola Soil Conservation District are Lawrence Bridges,
Reagan Taylor, Lloyd Brooks, Mouzon Tiller and Franklin
Childs. They want to thauk all who have had a pat t in making
the annual award program possible. .1, -. ■ .
WATER CONSERVATIONIST—Outstanding water conser-
vationist, Bex Brinson of Timpson, is to receive honor for doing
an outstanding job in water conservation. Bex wfll receive a
beautiful plaque at the annual award banquet in Carthage, May
9, far his continued interest and support of water conservation
on the Attoyac Watershed. Bex would be first to say that the
splendid accomplishments in water conservation to the present
time have been as a result of the cooperative efforts of everyone
concerned. However, through his genuine interest in the prob-
lem water is now flowing over the spillway of Lake Timpson. He
also took the lead in the Attoyac watershed flood prevention
project, that is scheduled to receive an economic feasibility sur-
vey by the Soil Conservation Service personnel later this year.
This survey will be conducted by specialists in the field for SCS
in Fort Worth.

land judging contest this year. , Contestants in the event were
asked to evaluate different soils according to land capability
classes, and prescribe conservation treatment needed for protec-
tion and improvement.

The Silas community believes in doing things in a cooperative
way. The above picture of family neighbors had just finished a
wonderful barbecued chicken dinner with all the trimmings.
The Silas group is to be congratulated for the way they work to-
gether to get things done. The officers are to bd honoied at the
annual banquet as the outstanding conservation group.
