ogdoches Boat Club at Lake
Ttanpson.
A large crowd from Nacog-
doches and this area of East
Texas was on hand to enjoy the
day’s program. No admission
was charged, but donations in
the amount of $112.96 wei"e

Motor boat races and skiing
events pleased the large
crowd.
Mrs. J. N. Craig of this city
underwent surgery at Highland
Sanitarium in Shreveport Wed-
nesday morning. She was ac-
companied to the hospital. by
ber husband, and daughter,

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Con-
ner and son, Charles Edwards,
of Shreveport, visited in the

Brunson and son, Billy, during

Mrs. Florene Burrows left
Saturday for Newton to join
group for a two weeks’ vaca-
tion trip to points in Florida
and Cuba.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Byrn left
Friday of last week for a
week’s visit with the family of

John Green, in Houston.
Mm. James Love and daugh-
ter, Miss Marion Love, of Dal-
las, were recently here for a
visit with Mrs. Love’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Bussey.

it with the family of their
daughter and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Carlos Frias.
Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Finch of
McAllen arrived Friday for a

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morris
and baby, Kim, of Houston,
spent the weekend in Timpson
with Mr. and Mm. O. J. Brin-
son. Their niece, little Miss
Sharron Burrows, accompanied
them home for a visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Shaw
and daughters of Lufkin spent
the weekend in Timpson with
Mrs. Shaw’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. N. Craig.
Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Fowler
and children, Anita and Joel,
of Port Neches, and Mrs. Ellis
Fowler of Colmesnell, arrived
the first of the week for a visit
with the families of the latter's
brothers, Mr. and Mm. Chas.
Cony and Mr. and Mrs. W. F.

Mrs. Charles Corry and son,
Balph, are spending several
days in Longview, with her
son, Charles Jackson, and fam-
ily.
Mrs. F. T. Cooke of Timpson,
and the family of her son, Mr.
and Mrs. John F. Cooke and
children, Johnny and Frances,
of Kilgore, went to Crystal
Beach near Galveston the first
of last week for several days
' outing. They were there Mon-
day and Tuesday and following
storm warnings they went to
Beaumont Wednesday, and
were in that city Thursday
when the severe storm hit
towns in that area. The experi-
ence will be long remembered,
Mrs. Cooke stated. They re-
turned to Crystal Beach Friday
and then to their respective
homes Monday.
Mrs. Bussey Boone of Shreve-
port, spent the weekend with
her sister, Miss Eva Todd, at
the homo of Mrs. T. P. Todd.

During the first six months
of this year this area received
59.45 inches of rain, according
to J. L Mitcham of the Shady
Grove community.
Here’s Mr. Mitcham’s record-
ed as he recorded it:

March 6.56—8 days
April 19.45—16 days
May 10.90—9 days
June 10.00—10 days
Rainfall for 1956—50 days
—totaled 4541, as compared
with 50.25—61 days—in 1966.
During the first six months
of 1966 the total was 34.61 as
compared with 59.46 same pe-
riod fa 1957.
The rainfall here fa Timpson
was lighter than fa the Shady
Grove community, according to
rain gauge of J. N. Craig. Mr.
Craig’s record showed the fol-
lowing: January 6.8, February
5.4, March 5.9, April 19.9, May
54, June 9.0, or a total of 52.3
for the six months period.
Over fifty inches is above
normal for Shelby county, with
six months more to go.
Miss Maxyne Adams
and Billie Joe Sapp
United in Marriage
The home of the bride was
the scene for toe double ring
ceremony Monday evening,
June 24, which united' in mar-
riage Miss' Maxyne Adams and
Billie Joe Sapp. The Bev. Carl
Brown, pastor of the Methodist
church, heard the vows.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Carrol Adams,
and the groom is the son of
Mrs. Luther Sapp..
The setting for the exchange
of vows' were in the living
room under an arch of dusty
miller with baskets of white
gladioli against a background
of greenery at each side.
■ t! The maid of honor was Mias
Martha Mathis, the bride’s
only attendant, and. Bay Lang-
ford of. Joaquin Served as best
man. * '
The bride wore a dress of
white cotton orion, trimmed at
the V-neck and gathered skirt
with . white flowers, against
blue ribbon. Her accessories
were of blue. White gloves and
shoes complimented her en-
semble and upon, her head she
wore a white veiled hat. In her
hand she carried a white Bible
topped with a bouquet of white
gardenlhs.
Immediately following the
ceremony, a reception was held
in the dining room. Miss Glen-
da Rae Watson served the
beautifully embossed three-
tiered cake which was topped
with a miniature bride and
groom, while Miss Carrol Lane
Adams, sister of the bride,
poured. the punch.
The (bride and groom plan to
make their home in Timpson.

Homecoming July 7
Sunday, July 7, beginning at
10 a. m. the annual memorial
homecoming will get underway
at the Pleasant Grove Ceme-
tery Tabernacle, located just
one mile off the Timpson-Cen-
ter highway.
Furman Hayes, program di-
rector says many people who
are' interested in the upkeep of
the cemetery will be coming to
Pleasant Grove Sunday. Bring
baskets of food for Hie noon
meal. Everyone welcome.
Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Stajdu-
har of Longview and Miss
Caroline Stajduhar of Pitts-
burgh, Penn., were Sunday
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Sid Cori-
thodist Church of Center, Mr.
Campbell served as chairman
of the board of stewards.
Funeral services were held
at the Mangum Chapel at 2 p.
m. on Thursday, with- Rev.
George Townley, pastor of the
St. Mark’s Methodist Church,
officiating, assisted by Rev. C.
A. West and Key. J. T. Camp-
bell. Burial was in the Oak-
lawn Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Nora Campbell; two sons,
Vance of Kemah, and Donese
Campbell of El Paso; three
grandchildren; one sister, Mm.
E. W. McLendon of Liberty.
His wife is the daughter of

Mrs. Sareh Wigley, 88,

late Charles Wigley of Hen-
derson, died Sunday fa Hender-
son where she has resided for
the past six years.
Funeral services were held
at the Methodist church fa

3:30 o’clock, with the pastor,
Rev. Carl W. Brown, officiat-
ing. Interment was made hi

ing at Fort Hood, Tex., with

Houston cadet program.
Cadet Warr, a business man-
