FRANKLIN SAID IT !
Eacu weet as I put the. Anvil Herald to
•bed, I hope that if anything I say makes
anyone mad it won't be more than' 50 per-
cent of the people. That way I have a 50-
50 chance ot getting them in a good humor
the next week, thus never having more than
ha I * the population upset at any one time.
Although this i somewhat out of propor-
t on, jny edi tor does have to wonder how
his words affect readers. But if he worries
about it*. . . ,
'•'•'ell, a great water worded it much more
succinctly. Ben Franklin once said:

Lights bake new signs
- „ ■ —v—'
Signs marking the intersections of Hondo streets for a long
'time have had motorists grumbling about their hard-to-see con-
dition, but now a new machine bought by the City is fast chang- .
ing the frowns to smiles of approval.
This machine allows the City to make its own signs by baking
special pre-printed material onto metal plates. Costing more
than $900 the machine will over the long haul allow the City to
make dll types of signs at excellent savings.
Street markers are the "signs of the time" right now, with theii
popular Owl blue and white translucent colors easily identifying
streets day or night. ............
This bank of lights, flanked by Street Superintendent Loyd
Hermes, right, and Don Leinweber, provides the intense heat to
bake on the signs. Don is in charge of the operation which has
provided 750 street signs. _
City crews are installing markers on numbered streets, begin-
ning with 19th Street and alternating north and south.
