Say, Coach (Daddy) that s cold!
ith
Little 3'-year-old Julie Keath was delighted
the snow that fell on .Hondo last week, but she
could be telling her daddy (basketball coach Dun
Keath) that "it sure is cold". Ted Mendoza
snapped this shot of little Julie standing on the
snow-covered Keath car while daddy laughs at her
actions. • .

Folks around the quiet town in the bend
of the Medina River are proud of their now
Regional Park and much of that pride qomes
from the fact that many people turned in
m^ch^ime along the road of achieving it.
They presented County Judge Jerome
Decker and AI Notsen, director of the Al-
amo Area Council of Governments, with
two unique awards for their efforts in help-
ing obtain the park, which should be com-
pleted this year. They were presented in-
scribed pieces of planks that came from
■ > beneath the altar of the Old St.- Louis
Church. They were believed to be more
than 110 years old (the planks not Decker
and Notzen), and could have b^en milled
\it the first mill in Castroville.
Then the Chamber presented Mayor
Sammy Tschirharf with a plaque showing
the Castroville City Hall and an inscription
thanking him for his service to the city
since first going on the City Council in
1961.
It certainly was a fun meeting and Pa-
tricia and I felt honored to be representing
our city.
HOW MANY MUSTACHES
. . . have you seen growing since the first
of the year?
Maybe you haven't seen mine, but I am
trying to grow one, And I believe it would
do much better if Rex (I mean Gene) Har-
rison would stop embarrassing it with snide
remarks. But, I'll forgive him since he
seems to have started a mustache also.
Three men who completely disgust me
with the fact that they can start a mustache
today and tomorrow be two weeks ahead of
me are Lupe Alvarez, Bob Peden and Tony
Mendoza.
Ait Forman even has one, but swears it
was not started for Museum Celebration
Day.
Let us know about others and we'll let
the world know, because some people might
be like me—if we don't tell about our mus-
taches here no one will ever know we are
trying.
BYE THE WAY
. . . speaking of Museum Celebration Day,
which is slated for May 5 (that's a Satur-
day) with the big Museum Antique Auction
coming the next day, which is May 6, I
guess, we need ideas and offers of help.
The next Museum Board meeting will
take up this special day and any new ideas
of activities that can be sponsored will be
welcomed. Come on out to the Medina
Co-op building that night at 7 p.m. and
make your suggestions.
