News From the FFA
B. H. S. Chapter
By James A. Howell
Attention former residents of
Bartlett; Saturday is your day.
The citizens of this community
welcome you back with open
arms. The Homecoming Parade
is designed to give you pep and
enthusiasm to kick off your day
in Bartlett. The present citizens
of Bartlett it being their day
too will be doing their best to
welcome you back and to share
fond memories with you of
great days of the past in Bart-
lett. So former residents we will
be glad to see all of you come
back. Make your plans to be in
Bartlett this coming Saturday.
It Will be time well spent. On
behalf of Mr. Marshall and my-
self I would like to ask all of
the former residents to come to
'this homecoming. Remember it
cannot be a success without
your attendance.
5:00 a. m. comes pretty early
for some people. About this
time oof the night I have just
started snoring good. But 5:30
a. m. did not come too early for
the boys of the FFA last Sat
urday for by 5:00 they were
already on the school bus and
on their way to the State Fair
of Texas in Dallas. This trip is
taken every two years. The long
ride on the bus while goirq; to
the fair may start to get bore-
some but everyone knows what
is at the end of the trip. At the
end of the trip lies the Cotton
Bowl scene of the annual Cot-
ton Bowl football game on New
Year's Day a Broadway musi-
cal hit (Here's Love) the 1965
Automobile Show Swiss Sky-
ride and the world-famed Ice
Capades. All of these are just
a few of the attractions that
make up the State Fair of Tex-
as. Some of these sites were
taken in by the travelers from
Bartlett. The bus ride home
may have seemed like a long
ride also but the events of the
day made up for it. Each year
the State Fair of Texas gets
bigger and bigger. The Bartlett
FFA boys (like FFA boys from
all over the state) are honored
to have a day set aside for them.
The memories of a state fair
are not easily forgotten
This weeks motto "We can
have no successful tomorrow if
we do not plan for it today."
-
Last week we stated that rib-
bons were received for the first
three places and reserve and
grand champion. But we did
not state what these ribbons
are for. They are for the winn-
ing .animal in each class of the
Bartlett Livestock Show.
Ribbons were also received
for places for entrants in the
Bartlettt FFA Culinary Fair
and Dress Revue. Items enter-
ed in the Dress Revue will con-
sist of dress blouse skirt and
suit. Girls who plan on entering
items in either one of these two
classes should have their items
in by 9:00 a. m. Saturday morn-
ing. These items cannot be tak-
en out until 5:00 p. m. Saturday
evening. This Culinary Fair ana
Dress Revue will be held in the
Blair building this coming Sat
urday. (Homecoming Day).
Mrs. Mellie Williams of Tem
ple was a week-end guest with
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Miller.
