Mr. Oscar L. Mason was hon-
ored on his 81st birthday by Mr.
and Mrs. C. JI. Townsend, Austin,
at a party Sunday, Oct. 26.
Guests from Austin were Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Corkrell and chil-
dren, Rodney and Phyllis, and Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Townsend and
Bruce and Clyde. From Hondo,
guests were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Cameron and George, Judge and
Mrs. Arthur Rothe and Mr. and
Mrs. Theodore Cameron.

In Regular Meet
The Rogers Circle of the Hondo
Methodist WSCS heard a report
on the Brownsville conference at
their meeting at the home of Mrs.
Bishop Kollman Nov. 5. -
After the devotional by Mrs.
O'lan Lacy, Mrs. R. J. Reily gave
the report. Thirteen members
were present. The next meeting
will be held in January.

on the WSCS conference held at
Brownsville to the Carle Circle of
the local Methodist organization at
a meeting Nov. 5.

ber meeting will be held at 2 P.

Holds Meeting
The Bvbee Circle of the Hondo
Methodist WSCS met in the home
of Mrs. Henry Merriman Nov 5.
Mrs J G Newton opened the
meeting with a prayer and Mrs.
Alfred Brucks gave the devotion-
al. “Ambassadors for Christ", and
a meditation on Africa.
Mrs O A. Fly gave a report
on the trip to the annual confer-
ence at Brownsville Refreshments
were served to 11 members, one
new member and one visitor. Next
meeting will be held in January.

Class of 1916.
Judge and Mrs. Arthur Rothe
arranged a chicken dinner for Mrs
Rothe’s graduating class of 1916,
held Friday at noon at Hermann
Sons Hall. Roses were used as
the centerpiece of the table, which
seated 22 guests, 1 1 being mem-
bers of the original class.
Saturday morning after the flag
pole dedication, the class again
met, this time in the school cafe-
teria, since some of the members
could not be present for the Fri-
day reunion.
Class of 1921
A tea honoring members of the
class of ’21, class of *18, and of-
ficials of the homecoming celebra-
tion was held Saturday afternoon
at the home of Mrs. R. L. Koll-
man.
Members of the house party in-
cluded Mrs. Kollman, Mrs. Milton
Batot, Mrs. Lillian Herbert,
Mrs. Erna Martin, Mrs. Bob Barn-
hart of Austin, and Miss Lucille
Newton. <
Centerpiece of the serving table
was an arrangement of reddish
purple chrysanthemums flanked
by silver tapers. Pink queens
crown was used on the coffee ta-
ble in the living room, yellow chry-
santhemums on the television con-
sole in the sunroom, and a cornu-
copia of fruit was placed on the
coffee table in the sunroom.

The graduating class of Hondo
High School. 1922. met at the home
of Mr and Mrs. W.F. Gaudian on
Friday evening.
Mrs. Earl O. Lacy and Mrs.
W F. Gaudian were hostesses to
fourteen guests at which time a
buffet supper was enjoyed.
Class of 1923
Half of the remaining members
of the class of Hondo High School,
1923, met last Saturday at the
home of Mrs Bob Burden, the
former Lucille' Hollaway.
An informal barbecue was en-
joyed by all at an outdoor table
under the trees. After the dinner,
the group relaxed with such state-
ments, “Do you remember...” and
“Say! That time when and
remembered when they were- not
the Owls but the Dutch-Irish, and
when the school paper was the
Juajilla Leaf.

held their agent meeting Oct. 30
at the home of Mrs. Ben De Joir-
nio. Jr
Iturteen members and two
guests were present Mrs J Hies-
ser gave a report from the state
meeting.

a desert demonstration of apricot
whip. Recreation followed with
prizes awarded and a luncheon
by the hostess.

Irma Haegelin; Mrs. Richard
Schultze, the former Clara Fille-
man; Mrs. G. L. Felkner, the
former Lorene Merriman and Ori-

Class president of 1923, Francis
Marion'Davis, was not present at
the class reunion but attended the
festivities Friday.
Class of 1925
The class of ’25 held a reunion
and ham supper at the E. E.
Kollman home Saturday night pre-
ceding the Homecoming dance.
Mrs. Kollman was a member of
the graduating class. -
The class flower, daises, was
used in several floral arrange-
ments. Thirteen were present for
the supper.
Class of 1926
The back yard of the M. F.
Schweers home was the scene of
a barbecue luncheon held Satur-
day, honoring his class of ’26.
Eighteen were present for the
party, including a former teacher
of the group, now Mrs. B. R. Eich-
enroht of San Antonio.
Class of 1928
Mrs. V. H. Crow, assisted by
classmates Milton Mechler, Rudy
Rath, and Clarence Neuman, was
hostess at a party for class of
1928 Saturday evening preceding
the Homecoming dance.

Class of 1929
A party at the home of Mrs. G.
O. Braden preceding the dance
Saturday night honored classmates
of Mrs. Braden, Mrs R. C. Rath,
Mrs. L. E. Kollman Jr., and Mrs.
Irving Gooding, who served as hos-
tesses for the event.
Refreshments of cake and coffee
were served to the 12 guests atten-
ding.
Class of 1931
The back yard of Mr. and Mrs.
Fritz Leinweber, both members
of the class of ’31, was the scene
of ? barbecue supper for former
classmates Saturday night before
the dance.
Until the year they graduated,
Hondo High had not had a larger
class than this one, boasting 32
members, and 16 former members
were present for the barbecue A
total of 40 were served. The class
sponsor and his wife,. M&M M.
L McDowell, were present as wgll
as the school superintendent at
that time, J. G. Barry.
The former Elizabeth Hollaway,
now Mrs. Irving Selegman of SA.
brought a scrapbook of high school
days and events which the group
enjoyed reading about once again
Class of 1932
Mr and Mrs. Jean Ulbrich en-
tertained at an after the-g a m c
party Friday night for Jean's
graduating class, the 1932 group.
A football theme was carried
out in the decorations with a foot-
ball shaped guest book and small
footballs serving as plate favors.
A - white floral arrangement was
used as a centerpiece.
A “lazy-Susan” held various
spreads and relishes from which
the quests served themselves. Cof-
fee was also served.
Class of 1935
The class of • 1935 held a bar-
becue supper at the hopie of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Tondre Satur-
day afternoon.

day night honoring his graduating
class.

Class of 1944
Miss Darlene Brucks entertais-
ed former classmates of the grad-
uating class of ’44 Friday night
after the football game. Approx-
imately 20 guests were present
for the party.

the class of ’47, their wives, hus-
bands or escorts, met out at the
Earl Lacy home Saturday even
ing for a buffet supper.

Mrs. William D Smith were hos-
tesses for the event.
Class of 1949
Saturday evening before €be
dance, the class of 49 held a re-
union out at the Fohn ranch, witli
members of the class now living
in Hondo serving as hosts.
