Mrs. Schwertner began her
banking career with the Hou-
ston National Bank. She also
worked at the National Bank of
Commerce in Houston and the
City National Bank of Taylor
before joining First Bank and
Trust Company in 1968.
Mrs. Schwertner in addi-

thority. A discussion and ans-
wer period followed. The

Florence Jarrell
Bartlett Bulldogs defeated
Florence and Jarrell in basket
ball games played last Friday
and Tuesday night.
In Friday nights game with
Florence the Bulldogs won
over Florence 63-42.
Wayne Powell scored 18
points for the Bulldogs. Jessie
Davis 17 and Randy Lawton
12. Davis had 25 rebounds.
In the "B" game Bartlett
won 37-5.
Jim Volney led the Bulldogs
with 14 points.
The Bulldogs defeated Jar
rell 60-42 in Tuesday nights i
game. Wayne Powell led all
scorers with 33 points.
The Bulldogs and Lassies
will play Florence in Florence
Friday night Jan. 28th. Next
Tuesday night Bartlett will
play Jarrell here and next
Friday night Hutto here.

"Snowy Beach " is the first
Atlantic Fleet exercise held
for several years to test the
Fleets capability to operate
under adverse winter weather

annual Chili Supper which is
scheduled for Friday night
Feb. 4th in the high school
cafeteria. Volunteers were ask-
ed for various needed donations
for tho chili supper.
It was announced that the
March 28th meeting will be held
in the elementary school audi-
torium with the program to bo
presented by the first second
and third grades.
The president appointed a
nominating committee to pre-
sent a slate of officers for the
next meeting. The committee is

On Financing
Schools At Work
Austin The Special
House Interim Committco on
Financing of Public School Ed-
ucation in Texas has begun its
efforts to find a solution to
tho state's school financing si-
tuation by the next regular le-
gislative session.
Rep. Charles Patterson of
Taylor member of the com-
mittee said tho committee
will be holding meetings in
the Central Texas area to ob-1
tain comments from citizens
on what they feel is needod
and how the financing prob-
lem can be met.
"Our objective is to solve
