Roper assumes local
duties for FmHA
Former U S. Congressman Kent Hance^was in Seminole
Wednesday morning to speak on behalf of Republican Bill
Clements in his campaign for governor Hance, who was a
Republican nominee for governor and was defeated by
Clements in the primary, was scheduled to speak all over the
W'est Texas area in behalf of Clements in the days before the
Tuesday general election (Sentinel Photo)
Claude Roper, a nine-year
veteran of the Farmers Home
Administration Agency, is the
new Gaines County Supervisor
for the FmHA.
Roper, a native of Lynn
County, attended and graduated
from Wilson High School before
earning a Bachelor of Science
degree in Agriculture from
Texas Tech.
Roper farmed in the Lubbock
area for seven years before
working nine years with the
FHA. Roper later worked at a
Stanton bank before assuming
his duties in Seminole.
Roper is married and his
wife’s name is Barbara. The
couple have two grown

Spokesmen lor the local
association said that $676 was
raised in firm pledges, while an
unknow n amount was also set to

successful and wished to thank
all persons who contributed and
all volunteers w ho worked on the
drive
