The Cross.
Splinters digging.
Victim squirming.
Arms stretching.
Legs hanging.
Body exposing.
Beyond the cross' physical
agony is its shaming of love.
Outstretched arms symbol of
openness and loving are nailed-
down prohibited from embrac
ing. The victim hangs vulnera-.'
ble unprotected easy target for
angry jabs thrusts and stones.
Yet the cross teaches eternal
truth. Anyone who would love
assumes the cross-position of
unprotected openness arms out-
stretched to receive whatever
comes angry jabs or tender
touch kicks or kisses.
The Cross.
Flesh tearing.
Blood oozing.
Jesus dying.
Jesus loving.
We living.
A rolling stone wrecked two
pieces of Calvary-wood. Splin
tercel the wood into a thousand
pieces saying for all time: tho
power of love explodes any ag-
ony ever known. Your agony.
My agony.
Once more outstretched
arms symbol of openness and
loving are free to embrace
Once nailed to the tree tho
Lord of Life and Love roams
the universe as victorius Friend
