sisting ot several courses of seasonable
viands and was thoroughly enjoyed by all

After dinner tbo party adjourned to
assembly ball where after several selec-
tions bad beanrendered by the band and
the students had marched In and seated

At the conclusion of his remarks Presi-

made by two of the college students

face which ellolted a hearty round of
laushter and applause The speaker ex-
plained the nature ot the Texas Railway
club and told of the work deno by its
members incidentally paying a glowing
tribute to tho beauty and Intelligence ot
tho ladles accompanying the party on tho
prosent trlD The address was a very
pleasing one and was highly appreciated
by those who heard it
President Foster then introduced Presi-
dent Grant of the club who made a few
brief remarks addressing himself par
ticularly to tho 8tudonts present This talk
to thorn was a plain and sensible one and
npparently made a deep Impression

of tbe club who was the next speaker In-
troduced oolnted out to the students that
they were tbo coming men and gavo tbem
sorao good advice as to their future line of

The address was eminently a practical one
and Mr Squire who spoke from experi-
ence gave the cadets present some par-
ticularly healthful food for thought along

At the close of Mr Squires remarks
President Grant thanked the students for
tbe gavel presented biro saying that It
would alwayn bo ufed In calling the meet-
ings of the club to order
Tho party then adjourned to the machine
shops and civil engineering department

exempt now from taxation It determines
tbo valuo of a franchise by deducting the

corporation This Is the second bill oassed
by tho bouse taxing franchises The
other Is more complicated in arriving at
the value
A bill was also passed authorizing the
sale of franchises to a corporation by
cities
