Sister Jeanne Francis of Incar-
nate Word Academy, general
chairman of South Texas Science
Fair for tire past two years re-
cently received a $500 award and
recognition for the teaching of
general science at junior high
levels.
Presenting the award to Sister
Francis and a $250 award to the
school were representatives of
Texas Chemical Council.
Sister Francis’ fellowship grant
is one of lour given in Texas this
year. Other recipients are from
Galina Park, Texas City and San
Antonio.
Dwight P. Keller, San Patricio
plant manager of Reynolds Metal
Co. and director of Texas Chemi-
cal Council, made the presenta-
tion to Sister Francis at a noon
luncheon at Corpus Christi Coun-
try club.
Sister Francis’ winning TCC
entry is an account of a plan ori-
ginated to interest junior high
students in science through proj-
ects. Included in the report are
results in degree o'f accomplish-
ment of the plan during the 1858-
59 school year.

Operation of the St. Vincent de
Paul Society’s Salvage Bureau
Warehouse by a full Time mana-
ger and supervisor has become a
reality.
Mr. John Wolf was hired this
past week by the Salvage Bureau
Conference (Special Works) aa a
warehouse manager. Mr, Wolf
was a former building contractor
before entering Civil "Service from
which he has retired.
His primary duties at present,
will include: Supervision of furni-
ture-appliance assorting; repairs
and sales, and maintenance and
construction of store and ware-
house fixtures and properties.
COLLECTIONS WILL NOT' BE
MADE BY THE MANAGER AT
THIS TIME. The collection of
contributions shall continue to be
made by individuals in the vari-
ous Conferences, until such time
as the Bureau can operate a pick-
up service, (A pickup or other
truck is presently needed.
AI1 volunteer and paid help
working in the furniture-appliance
section will be under the super-
vision of Mr. Wolf.
In addition to her present posi-
tion as store Manager, Miss Con-
cha Mendiola has been made su-
pervisor of all clothes assorting
and stocking at the Warehouse.
All volunteer and paid personnel
working in this section will be
supervised by Miss Mendiola.
Several officers of the Special
Works Conference will visit vari-
ous women’s clubs to explain how
these organizations can help. If
your organization la interested,
