Future Freshmen Day As-
sembly.
The Incarnate Word
choir received an excel*
lent rating at the annual
Choral Club contest at
Our Lady of the Lake
College in San Antonio
Friday, March 14.
Performing Friday morn-
ing, the group s?ng
"Dawn,” "Evening Song”,
and "Where in the World”.
Following the prepared
performance the choir was
required to sight read be-
fore judges.
Accompanying the group
of 68 girls were Sister
Sharon Deemer, director,
Sister Olga Hernandez,
Sister Evelyn Morales and
Mrs. Leonard Hardigree.
The Incarnate Word
Academy CCD sponsored
their annual Easter Egg *
Hunt for underprivileged
children on Saturday, j
March 29. Hunts were held
at South Bluff Park for the ;
children of Our Lady Star
,of the Sea and Holy Cross
Parishes.
TO GIVE recognition to
the unknown or unrecog-
nized talent in school, the
Incarnate Word Academy
National Honor Society
will sponsor a Talent Fair
to be held during one peri-
od of class time on Friday,
April 11.
Incarnate Word Acade-
my business students
won third place in the
annual Catholic Business
Education Association
contests held at Our
Lady of the Lake Col-
lege, San Antonio,
March 29.
Honors leceived in the
various contests were the
following: Typing II: first
place — Diane Moreno,
honorable mention —Mari-
lyn Bentley; Typing I:
third place — Mary Ganz,
honorable mention — Vick-
ie Oliveira;
Spelling: third place —
Mary Ganz, honorable
mention — Diane Moreno;
Shorthand: Honorable men-
tion — Barbara Laudadio;
Bookkeeping: honorable
mention — Deidre Jalo-
way.
Fifteen schools participat-
ed in the statewide contest.
St. Pius of Houston won
first pla^fc. One hundred
and forty-three students
took part in the competi-
tion.
Accompanying the IWA
students were business
teachers, Sister Mary Anne
Roddy, Sister Mary Evelyn
Morales, and Sister Patri-
cia Ruth Janecek.

After the evaluation is

the construction of St.
Theresa’s parish hall, were
held at St. Theresa Catho-
lic Church on Sunday,
March 19, following the 9
o’clock Mass.
Lynn Ledet, master of
ceremonies, presented Fa-
ther Damien J. Hayes,
pastor of the church, who
offered the blessing of the
site.
Mayor Lato Barrera
spoke briefly and expressed
his appreciation for the
planned hall and the pro-
gress it indicates, on be-
half of the church, commu-
nity and the city.
He then presented the
gold-sprayed shovel, topped
with a white satin bow
and palm leaves, to Father
Hayes, who turned the
first official spade of soil
in the ceremony.
Mayor Barrera took bis
turn at spading the
ground, followed by Teresa
Rivera, a member of the
Secular Institute of the
Oblate Missionaries of
Mary Immaculate.
Others taking part in the
spading ceremony were the
chairman and co-chairman
of the Building and Fi-
nance Committee; Hector
Barrera and Gus Canales;
CYO. Mrs. Manuel Barrera,
Confraternity of Christian
Doctrine;
Cleofas Hinojosa. Jr.,
Knights of the Altar; Al-
fonso Garcia, Knights of
Columbus; Cleofas Hinojo-
sa, Sr., Mutualistas; Mr.
and Mrs. Raul Hinojosa,
Cursillistas, and Robert E.
Garcia, representing Cam-
paign Hope.
CCD students who
spoke in appreciation
and thanksgiving for the
anticipated parish hall
were: Richard Gonzalez,
Mike Barrera, Melissa
Ortiz, Sam Henke, Mar-
gie Galindo, and Bob
Howell.
Other CCD students
added a message in song
with the singing of
"They’ll Know We Are
Christian by Our Love,”
accompanied by guitar-
ists, Alex Saenz and
Sylvia Recio.
The program was con-
cluded with Father Hayes
leading "The Lord’s Pray-
er.”
Refreshments of cookies,
punch and coffee were
served on the patio of the
Church Rectory. A center-
piece of pink roses and
greenery held in a basket
graced the serving table
laid with a white cloth.
Approximately 250 per-
sons witnessed the ground-
breaking ceremony. Out of
town guests for the morn-
ing were Mr. and Mrs.
Lloyd Jary of San Antonio,
and Mr. and Mrs. Mike
Salinas of Falfurrias.
Construction of the par-
ish hall is expected to be-
gin during the month of
April.

ident of the World Bank
and former secretary of
defense, will be the princi-
pal speaker at the May 1
dedication of the Universi-
ty of Notre Dame’s Hayes-
Healy Center for graduate
business education.
The $1 million building
was a gift to Notre Dame
from Mr. and Mrs. John F.
Healy, owners of a long-
established Chicago travel
agency, Vanderbilt Better
Tours, and they will be
honored at a dedication
luncheon.
Healy is a 1930 graduate
of Notre Dame's College of
arts and letters, and his
wife, the former Ramona
Hayes, hold two degrees
from the University of
Chicago and a De Paul
University law degree.
The dedication events
will start with a 10 a.m.
Mass in Sacred Heart
Church celebrated by
Notre Dame's president,
the Rev. Theodore M.
Hesburgh, C.S.C. Preach-
ing at the Mass will be
the Rev. W. Seavey
Joyce, S. J., president of
Boston College and for-
mer dean of its College
of Business Administra-
tion.
Speakers at the luncheon
will include John T. Ryan,
Jr., chairman of the board
of Mine Safety Appliances
Company, Pittsburgh, Pa.,
a trustee of Notre Dame
and chairman of its Advi-
sory Council for Business
Administration, Dean
Thomas T. Murphy of the
College of Business Admin-
istration, and Father Hes-
burgh.
THE LUNCHEON will
be followed by an academic
convocation which will be
addressed by McNamara.
McNamara was an as-
sistant professor of busi-
ness administration at
Harvard for three years
