were announced M o n d ay,
April 17 by High School
principal, James B. Adams.
The method for deter-
mining the averages was
changed this year. Pre-
viously, the students1 Jun-
ior and Senior grades were
averaged; but beginning
this year, only grades in
the required subjects were
counted. "All e 1 ec t iv e
courses and courses taken
in a year other than that
intended were disregarded,"
explained Mr. Adams. "For
example, if a student took
General Science other than
his Freshman year, his
grades in General Science
would not be counted to-
ward Valedictorian or Sal-
utatorian honors, because
General Science is a Fresh-
man course."
