Coach Ray
Is this school big enough
for two OKIES? Coach Bobby
Ray was born in Duncan Ok-
lahoma in 1936. He was
born into a family with
two sisters and one broth-
er ^ who also became a coach.
After graduating from
high school at Empire, Ok-
lahoma, he furthered his
education at Central State
College at Edmond, Okla-
homa. Coach Ray married
Cora Ann Smart in 195>6.
Having taught school
or sixteen years, Coach
Ray has taught three years
at Lacy, Oklahoma, one
year at Antelope, Texas,
one year at Mineral bells 9
and eleven years at Archer
City. It is obvious which
town he prefers.
During his sixteen years
of coaching, he has taken
three basketball teams to
district championship, and
one to the state playoffs.
He has coached one district
football team.
When he is not busy with
athletics, he is at Lake
Arrowhead fishing or work-
ing in his garden.
His wife teaches at
Windthorst, and they have
two sons, Mike,a freshman,
and Jeff,a seventh grader.
In high school Coach
Ray won All-District three
years in a row in basket-
ball. He went to college
on a basketball scholar-
ship •

Only four students in
high school pulled through
the second six weeks with
all A's. Nine students
made all A's with only one
B, and twenty-two made the
B honor roll.
This few a number on
the A honor roll is quite
unus ual. Thr ough out the
third six weeks try to let
this give you an incentive
to work even harder.

is also active in Stage
Band as he has been in the
past, FFA also concerns
Will as he has been a mem-
ber for 3 years'and was cho-
sen treasurer this year.1
Will is well known for
his friendliness and has
always been a favorite a-
round ACHS,

District Banquet
The Archer City FFA was
well represented at the
Wichita District FFA Ban-
quet and awards program.
Marie Gage competed in the
sweetheart contest. Jay
McWhorter was voting dele-
gate and Carl Matlock was
Marie's escort.
Also attending the ban-
quet were Mr. and Mrs•
Haile, Mr•.and Mrs..Shear-
mire, Mr, and Mrs. Bill
