RAGE r is about Dan Lo<
gan, a Wyoming rancher,
and his young son, Chris,
lie stricken in ahtapitaL,
victims of a mysterious
cr it ic al illness. What
neither the Logans nor the
local doctor realize is
that Dan and Chris have
been exposed to experimen-
tal nerve gas sprayed acci-
dentally in the area by an
air force jet. \
Logan *s desperate and
solitary efforts to dis-
cover the malady’s cause
put him in a mortal struggLe
against his friends, his
neighbors, and ultimately
against the governmental
and military authorities
who have resolved to keep
the secret from leaking
out.
Ar ound this expl os ive
situation Philip Friedman
has written a novel thatis
f r ight e ning, c ontr over s ial,
and relentlessly suspense-
ful.
Keep School Spirit Alive
by Tammy MeGriff
Okay, folks, football season is over, but
that does not mean to put your school spirit
up in the top of your closet with your stadium
blanket.
It's great to have a lot of spirit during
football season, but there are still other ac-
tivities that need your support.
Get behind the basketball teams, the band,
and those in UIL. They really need your back-
ing, These people don’t participate in these
events just for themselves, they participate for
the school and. everyone of us is a part of
this school.
Nothing Is Commonplace
by Leah Luig
As autumn arrives and we behold the 'mi-
raculous works of nature, we receive a chance
to consider the earth and our environment.
Everything -we see, hear, smell, or touch has
been mad.e by an incredible recipe known only
by Mother Nature herself.
When you walk outdoors, think about the
beauty of our world, its creatures, and our
many neighbors, for nothing and no one is sim-
ple or to be taken for granted. Nothing is
commonplace, as Susan Coolidge shows in her
poem,

COMMONPLACE
,!A commonplace life,'1 we say, and we sigh,
But why should wo sigh as we say?
The commonplace sun in the commonplace sky
Makes up the commonplace day;
The moon and the stars are commonplace things,
And the flower that blooms, and the bird that
sings|
But dark were the world, and sad our lot,
If the flowers failed, and- the sun shone notj
And God who stud.ies each separate soul.
Out of commonplace lives makes His beautiful
whole.
