were elected for the
coming year. They are

Reporter--Debbie Martin
The cheerleader for
this room is Beckey
Crow.
In the way of sports
this week, the Kittens
were beaten by Henriet-
ta with the score be-
ing 28-0.
The volleyball cap-
tains for the boys are:
Steve Hue-gins, captain
and Paul Schlabs c o -
caotain.

Mrs, Gardiner’s room
has one new pupil, Paul
Roberts, who moved here
from Nocona.
In Geograohy, the
class is studying the
United States, and to
make the study m ore
realistic, t he v are
pretending to make a
tour of the Uni ted
States. They started
their tourney at New
York City and are trav-
eling westward. Their
first stop will be
Pittsburgh, the ''Steel
City." They will trav-
el through he Appala-
chian Highlands and
then on to Washington
D. C., cur national
capitol.

TYPING II CLASSES
MAKE TRAINING MANUALS
The Typing II Class
has been working on Of-
fice Training Manuals.
The manuscript con-
tains chapters on
learning to ' be a good
receptionist and busi-
nessman.
The students may
illustrate various
pages in the chapters
for extra points.
In this class one
learns how to be a sec-
retary and receptionist
by typing jobs pertain-
ing to everyday secre-
tarial work. These
students will surely
be prepared for the
business world.
Mrs, Wallace’s 4th
grade room has kept a
weather chart for four
weeks and found that
October 2 was 5>0 min-
utes shorter than the
day they started the
chart, September 7.
Robert E. Lee left
school last Friday
morning to move to
Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sell Most Magazines
The Junior High has
been selling subscrip-
tions for magazim .e s
this week. The project
started September 27
and lasted for a week.
Everyone tried to sell
the most magazines so
they could receive a
prize. The eighth
grade ouoils were sell-
ing the magazines to
raise money for the
eighth-grade banquet.
Mindy Rogers sold
the most in the eighth
grade. She sold a to-
tal of $11 on the first
day. The high sales-
man in Mrs. McWhorter ’ s
homeroom is Cyd Hornady.
She sold a total of
$56.
To be a friend a man
should close his eyes to
the faults of others and
open them to his own.

Work On Contracts
The English II and
III classes are having
a chance to decide the
grade they make. Their
grade is according to
the number of outside
assignments they do.
They are given so many
points for each assign-
ment. In order to make
an A, they have to hand
in enough assignments
to get 16 points. T o
get a B, they have to
hand in enough assign-
ments to get 12 pointy
and to get a C, they
have to get 8 points.
If they don’t want to
hand anything in they
will only get a D. In
order to get these
rades, they still have
o make good grades in

III students are writ-
ing short stories. For
a short story they re-
ceive 4 Points.

A Hollywood producer
received a motion picture
entitled, "The Optimist."
He called his staff to-
gether and said, "Gentle-
men, this story is great
but the title must be
changed to something sim-
ple. We’re intelligent
and we know what an opti-
mist is, but how many of
those morons who'll see
the picture will know he’s
an eye doctor?"
