Whitewright Teams
Take First, Second In
Little League Action
The Whitewright No. 1 team
came out in first place in the
Grayson-Fannin Little League
for 1967. Last Saturday night
the team proved they were
champions when they downed
the All Star Team, 13-3.
The Sportsmanship award this
year went to the Tom Bean
team.
The All Star team was com-
posed of boys from the other
teams in the league and was
coached by second place win-
ner coach in the league, which,
was also from Whitewright.
Players from Howe’s teams
chosen for the All Star team
were Yankees Vincent Hash,
Steve Riley and Randy Bell;
Tigers, John and David Hill and
Roger Lankford.
The game was very close at
first but the Whitewright team
was too strong at the play and
also showed fine fielding. Pitch-
ing for Whitewright. was Q. L.
Owens. In the first inning for
the All Stars, Patterson ground-
ed out, Hash singled and went
an to second, Ramsey doubled
scoring Hash. Rice and Marr
struck out.
In the top of the second Per-
kins was safe on an error, D.
Hill struck out, Lankford walked
Jones hit a fly to short stc-p
and Patterson struck out.
Whitewright got their first two
runs in the second inning when
Rodney Rice singled, stole 2nd,
and scored on a double. Blan-
ton stole third aand scored on
an overthrow at home.
Leading off in the third, Hash
knocked the ball just over the
pitcher for his second hit and
went to second then scored on
Ramsey’s home run to put the
All Stars back in the lead, 3-2.
John Hill went on the mound
in the third, striking out three
of four batters.
The fourth inning spelled dis-
aster for the All Stars as Hill
and a relief pitcher were un-
able to hold the Whitewright
team, allowing seven runs.
Whitewright pushed across 4
additional runs in the fifth to
secure the game.
The All Stars loaded the bas-
es in the 6th inning but were
unable to score.

Wire fish baskets are ideal
for small fish, but when they
are left hanging over the side
of a moving boat the wire can
badly bruise the fish and mar
the side of the boat.
