Club coming October 11

Supper Club is set for Saturday,
October 11th, and features three
outstanding singer-songwriters

After spending years on the

Jorgenson, and rock with Billy

clinician. He has produced
several instructional courses for

A veteran of many Texas
Music festivals, Jim Bob Laird's
music will make you laugh, cry,
reminisce, tap your toes, hum
along and bow your head in
prayer. But mostly, his music
will leave you wanting to hear
more.
Casey Pilgreen organized
Casey Pilgreen and Bom South

voted Texoma's Best by readers

The 1948 graduation class of
Archer City High School cel-
ebrated their 60th reunion, Sat-
urday, September 27,2008 at the
Wells Fargo Bank Community
Room.
Fourteen classmates, eight
spouses and 12 visitors were
present for the event.
Leta Wright decorated the
room in black and gold. Large
60's were everywhere to remind
how long it has been since high
school. Two tables held photo
albums, old annuals, scrapbooks
and pictures. There was also an
album of all the past seven class
reunions, and a poster of all the
Archer City school buildings.
Everyone enjoyed the old adver-
tisements of local business and
a 1947 show calander from The
Royal Theatre. Catherine
McCarty made scripture verse
books and Barbara Young made
neat black and gold satin book
marks for everyone.
Joyce Rentschler read a list of
our 15 deceased classmates and
gave a poem in their memory,
then passed out beautiful
Memory Books for everyone,
which included copies of our
graduation exercise, pictures and
information about our past re-
unions, present class list and
addresses.
Glenda Nicklas led a short
time of sharing about what has
happened to each since the last
reunion, and shared information
about those who could not be
with us.
All enjoyed a nice lunch,
which included some sweets and
goodies from some of the ladies.
Judy Glenn brought a picture
of their 4th grade class with Miss
Mary Haile, teacher. Everyone
had a good time trying to put
names to those young faces, but
had help as all had signed the
back of our pictures.
It was a wonderful day of re-
membering long ago ballgames
and proms, teachers and friends.
60 years seem like a long time,
but to the attendees, at least for
today it was only yesterday.

Windthorst Federal Credit Union
speaks out on the financial crises
contributed by Judy Koetter,
CEO, Windthorst Federal Credit
Union
The question on many people's
mind today is how the crisis on
Main Street affects their
financial institution at home.
The good news is that
Windthorst Federal Credit
Union is financially stable and
committed to ensuring that
residents of this community have
access to affordable financial
services.
Windthorst Federal Credit
Union has been here for 44 years.
Our assets have grown over $ 19
million in the past five years.
We are a not-for-profit financial
cooperative, and what that
means is that we do not have
outside stockholders and are not
publicly traded on Wall Street.
Our board of directors is made
up of volunteers from here who
are elected by the membership -
-the true owners of our
institution. Our 9-member board
is comprised of men and women
who live, work or worship in our
community.
Under the careful, consistent
and responsible guidance of our
board of directors, coupled with
the resourceful and diligent
leadership of staff, members of
WFCU can be assured that we
are a well-capitalized institution,
operating safely and soundly in
this community.
Worth noting is that the current
statewide capital ratio for credit
unions is 11 percent, and 98.7
percent of all credit unions are
considered well capitalized.
WFCU is among that 98.7
percentile with a ratio of 13.9%.
The passage of the Emergency
Economic Stabilization Act of
2008 on October 3, 2008, will
require the National Credit
Union Administration (NCUA)
to immediately increase share
insurance protection from
$100,000 to $250,000 on all
types of accounts until December
31, 2009. The same increase is
given to banks and the FDIC.
The good news in today's
economy is that Windthorst
Federal Credit Union is Safe.
We have money to lend, and
continue to engage in responsible
lending practices. Windthorst
Federal Credit Union has federal
deposit insurance, so deposits in
this institution are insured to at
least $250,000, and Windthorst
Federal Credit Union is owned
by the people we serve, and we
take that very seriously!
