Pastor Called: The family of Hillside Baptist Church would like to welcome
Bro. Preston Campbell as their new Pastor. He is joined with his wife Tiffany nad
their two children, Aiden 7 and Ian 3. He has been in ministry for over 18 years
serving as Associate Pastor at Maranatha Baptist Church in Florence Texas and
Choir Director at Northside Baptist Church in Killeen Texas. He has also served as
Youth Sunday School Teacher. The church would like to invite everyone and come
and meet the family Sunday at 9:45 a.m. for Sunday School or the Worship Service
at 11:00 a.m.
NEW QUILT: First United Methodist Church Bazaar Quilt for this year was first at
the Texas Oklahoma Fair and will be given away at the bazaar. It is on display at Electra
Public Library.
Electric Rates Increase Oct. 1

ing up in Electra on Oct. 1, and
five persons will be considered
in the near future to fill the po-
sition of City Administrator.
Meeting in regular session
at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, com-
missioners approved third
and final reading of an or-
dinance raising the electri-
cal rates, and announced
the selection of Daniel

Mayor Pro Tern Curtis War-
ner announced following
two closed sessions that 54
applicants had applied for
the position, and this had
been narrowed to nine prior
to the Tuesday night meet-
ing. The final five were se-
lected by commissioners
meeting in closed session.
Prior to the closed session for
personnel matters, commis-
sioners met with City Attorney
Todd Greenwood for an attor-
ney consultation. Each ses-
sion lasted about 45 minutes.
Inohter busi-
ness commissioners amended
the operating budget for 2010-
11. and adopted an Investment
Policy for 2011 -12, as required
by law according to Interim
City Administrator Joe Pence.
A proclamation designating
October 2-8 as National 4-H
Week and minutes of the Sept.
13 meeting were approved.
During announcements and
comments Margie Scott in-
quired about the Northside
Development Committee
which has not yet met, and
a policy that two commis-
sioners may request an item
be placed on an agenda. Ron
Wilson submitted a pub-
lic information request for
meeting minutes, a copy of
the charter and a list of wa-
ter meters in the city limits.
Mayor Tom DeLizio con-
ducted the meeting with
Commisioners Curtis Warner,
Bill Davis, Janice Cranford
and Pam Ward in attendance.

ner fund-raiser on Sunday,
Oct. 16, in the Dinsmore El-
ementary School Cafeteria.
Serving for $6.00 a plate
will be from 11 a.m. to 3
p.m. in the event which the
department plans to make
an annual activity. Included
will be your choice of spa-
ghetti with meat sauce or
chicken spaghetti, salad,
bread and tea.
A live auction will begin
at 1 p.m.

Methodist Quilts Place In
Texas Oklahoma Fair
The First United
Methodist Church Bazaar
quilt for this year placed first
at the Texas Oklahoma Fair,
and the 2007 Bazaar Quilt
won the Overall People’s
Choice Award.

up at Waggoner Bank in Elec-
tra for local resident Kather-
ine Gentry.
Katherine and her hus-
band Weldon were involved
in a serious motorcycle acci-
dent in Oklahoma last week.
All donations received
would go toward medical ex-
penses.
Katherine suffered a head
injury and is an Oklahoma
hospital.
This year’s queen size quilt
is a scrappy flowered variety
with embroidered butterflies
in some of the squares. The
quilt includes two pillow
shams with embroidered
butterflies in the center.
The quilt was pieced
by Edna Talley, Roylene
Davis and Alpheus Boston
with Peggy Ballard, Barbara
Burchfield, Billie Willis,
Frances Arnold and Jerry
Patton helping
with the cutting of fabric and
layout
Embroidered butterflies
were by Vicki Nightingale.
Quilting was done by Cindy
Simmons.
Tickets for the quilt will
be going on sale in October
for $1.00 each or six for $5.
The quilt may be viewed in
October at the Electra Public
Library.
The 2007 quilt was won by
Elwanda Hollis and donated
to Carol Bourland.
It has the state of Texas
pieced from fabric indicative
of Texas. In the background
handquilted in a armadillo,
cowboy hat and boots,
bluebonnets and the lone
star.
The quilt was pieced by
Vicki Nightingale and
hand quilted by Lis Crow
and Rama Magers.
