Community Calendar and
Announcement Policy
The Community Calendar and
Announcement sections are for non-profit
organizations such as churches, schools,
and benefits helping families or certain
groups. The benefit must run what it
is and where the money is going. No
prices will be allowed in the placement.
For example, no ticket price, no door
price or no prize price. "Donations will be
accepted" is acceptable language, but no
amount is allowed. Items in question will
be handled on a case-by-case basis and
placement or non-placement will be at the
discretion of the editor and the publisher.
The placer always has the opportunity to
purchase an advertisement in the paper
to run the fidl announcement. If he or she
wishes to do so, they will be directed to
advertising for their assistance. Feel free

Thursday, Oct. 25
J.P. Cowen Fall Festival
J.P. Cowen Early Childhood Center will
have their Fall Festival for students and
their families from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday,
Oct. 25. This is a free event with food and
games.
Grand Master Workshop
Sweetwater Masonic Lodge 571 has called
a meeting for Thursday, Oct. 25. Dinner
will be served at 6:30 p.m. The meeting has
been called for a Grand Master Workshop.
All members are invited to attend.
Highland Sophomore
Class Fundraiser
The Highland Sophomore Class garage
sale fundraiser will be Thursday, Oct. 25
at the Roscoe Community Center from 4-7
p.m. For more information, call Debbie

Book Review Club
The Sweetwater Book Review Club will
meet Thursday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. at the
County-City Library. Glenn Dromgould
from Texas Star Trading Co. and Abilene
Reporter News will introduce books by
Texas Authors.
Mitchell County Senior
Citizen Dance
Everyone is welcome to the Mitchell
County Senior Citizens Halloween Dance
on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012. It will be held
from 7-10 p.m. at the Colorado City Civic
Center, located at 157 West 2nd Street in
Colorado City. Live music will be provided
by Mike Porter and Kevin Rainwater, and
guests may bring snacks to share. Dress to
scare. There will be an entry fee; contact
Faye for more information at 325-728-
3033.
Friday, Oct. 26
HHUMC Rummage and Bake Sale
A rummage and bake sale will be held
at Highland Heights United Methodist
Church, 1801 Lamar, on Friday, Oct. 26,
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Oct.
27, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Haunted House
The Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ-
Sweetwater, located at the corner of Neff
and Alabama, will be having its annual
Haunted House which is open to the pub-
lic on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26 and 27,
beginning at dark. A small admission fee
will be charged.
Saturday, Oct. 27
Faith Harvest Fall Carnival
Faith Harvest Church, located at 400
Alamo Street, will be having a Fall Carnival
on from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.
They will have nachos, Frito pie, sausage
on a stick, hamburgers, hot dogs and
more. They will also have bounce castles
for the kids, Trunk-or-Treat and a hay
ride. All of this is free. They will serve until
they are out of food. There will also be a
cake walk.
Benefit Brisket and Bake Sale
On Saturday, Oct. 27, there will be a
benefit brisket and bake sale for Albert
Morales at the Edward Jones parking lot.
It will include a combo meal of brisket
sandwich, chips and a drink. Anyone wish-
ing to donate or for more information call
721-1610.
AVID Club Halloween Carnival
and Haunted House
The Sweetwater High School AVID Club
will be holding a Halloween Carnival and
Haunted House on Saturday, Oct. 27, at
Sweetwater High School. The children's
games, face painting and carnival will be
held from 5-7 p.m., and tickets may be
purchased for the games at the door. The
AVID Haunted House will open its doors
from 8-11 p.m. Tickets for the Haunted
House may be purchased at the door.
Benefit Brisket Sale
On Saturday, Oct. 27, there will be a
brisket lunch available for purchase at the
Lions Club parking lot to benefit the Brewer
Family. The lunch will include a brisket
sandwich, chips and a drink. Anyone wish-
ing to help the day of the sale, should con-
tact Jeanne at 660-8310. Anyone wishing
to help furnish food or drinks, can contact
Nadene Blanchard at 338-5343 or Jeanne.
Make A Difference Day
For “Make a Difference Day”, Roscoe
Sons of Hermann Lodge #257 will be pick-
ing up trash along their adopted roadway.
Members and anyone else wanting to help
will meet at the Adopt-A-Highway sign
near the Roscoe Community Center at 8:30
a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. For additional
information, please call Celia Pietzsch at

School of Horrors
A Haunted House hosted by Roscoe
Collegiate High School Seniors will be held
from 6-10 p.m. at the Jaycee Barn, located
at 307 W. 4th Street in Sweetwater, from
Oct. 27-31. All proceeds will go towards the
Roscoe Collegiate Seniors 2013 Blowout.
Sunday, Oct. 28
Light the Night
Emmanuel Fellowship Church will
host Light the Night from 6-8 p.m. on
Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012. There will be games,
food and friendly costumes.
Tuesday, Oct. 30
TSTC Halloween Extravaganza
Texas State Technical College will be host-
ing the Halloween Extravaganza once again
this year. The date is Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012
from 6-9 p.m. in the Student Center at the
TSTC Sweetwater campus. Student organi-
zations from the TSTC campus as well as
community organizations, church groups
and youth groups will be providing fun and
spooky games for the evening. Candy and
games will be given away as prizes.
Hoyt House Trunk-or-Treat
Hoyt House, located at 1700 Hoyt, will
host a Trunk-or-Treat from 5:30-7 p.m. on
Tuesday, Oct. 30. The door decoration con-
test winner will also be announced. RSVP
to 235-5655.
Avondale Trunk-or-Treat
Avondale Baptist Church, located at 1405
Hoyt Street, will have a Trunk-or-Treat
from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
Nolan Nursing Festival
Nolan Nursing and Rehab in Sweetwater
will be having a Fall Festival Carnival from
4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, at their build-
ing, located at 705 NE Georgia. There will
be booths with games, as well as refresh-
ments. The event serves as a fundraiser for
gifts and activities for residents during the
holiday season.
Fright Night Haunted House
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) and the Western
Texas College Art Club will present a Fright
Night Haunted House. There will be three
floors, where movies come to life at the West
building, located at 6200 College Avenue in
Snyder on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct.
30 and 31, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Wednesday, Oct. 31
FBC Family Fall Festival
The First Baptist Church Family Fall
Festival will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31,
from 6-8 p.m. featuring an evening of fun
for the entire family, including games and
great food with the community. Park in lot
on the northeast corner of 4th and Elm.
Carefully cross the street and enter the
parking lot on the northwest corner of 4th
and Elm. All are welcome.
LSBC Trunk-or-Treat
Lamar Street Baptist Church will have a
Trunk-or-Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 31, in
the parking lot from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The
church welcomes all children to stop by and
get a treat.
Treatsville
Broadway Baptist Church is offering
an alternative to taking kids out Trick-
or-Treating. This alternative is Treatsville.
Treatsville will be held Wednesday evening
on Oct. 31, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the gym
and the gym parking lot. Here are some of
the events families can enjoy: face painting,
trunk or treat, dessert walk and multiple
games.
Lighthouse Assembly Fall Festival
Lighthouse Assembly of God, located at
412 Newman in Sweetwater, will have a fall
festival beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday,
Oct. 31, 2012. There will be food, fun and
prizes. Games are free and the church will
be selling hamburger plates to benefit their
youth and children’s ministries.
Roscoe Community
Trunk-or-Treat
The Roscoe Community will have a
Trunk-or-Treat from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Roscoe
Courthouse, located at 115 Cypress Street.
FUMC Trunk-or-Treat
First United Methodist Church will have
a Trunk-or-Treat and games from 5:30-
7:30 p.m. in their parking lot behind McCoy
Funeral Home. The event is free and open
to the public.
