■ The Chambers County region
will be the next stop on the “BBB
Morning Mix Tour!” The event
will be hosted by the Anahuac Area
Chamber of Commerce at The
Wellness Center at Bayside, 2202
South Main in Anahuac from 7:30
a.m. to 9 a.m. It will be the ninth of
13 area Better Business Bureau-
sponsored get acquainted and in-
formative gatherings to be held in
2012 across Southeast Texas. The
“BBB Morning Mix Tour” pro-
vides a complimentary continental
breakfast, a great opportunity to
network with other business lead-
ers in the area, and the chance to
leam more about the mission and
services of the Better Business Bu-
reau. It’s all free! Please RSVP to

Friday, Sept. 14
■ The Wellness Center at Bayside
will show the animated movie,
‘The Three Stooges,” rated PG, at
1 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Wellness
Center’s auditorium. The movie is
free and popcorn, drinks and candy
will be available for purchase.
Monday, Sept. 17
■ East Chambers High School will
hold Parents’ Night starting at 6:30
p.m. Meet at the high school audi-
torium.
Thursday, Sept. 27
■ The 2nd Annual Shane Detwiler
Foundation Golf Tournament
Fundraiser will begin at noon with
shotgun start at Eagle Pointe Golf
Club, 12440 Eagle Pointe Drive,
Mont Belvieu, Texas 77580.
Sunday, Oct. 14
■ The Freeman Spath American
Legion Post 104 in Anahuac will
hold its annual fundraiser. Please

Thomas and her family at the Win-
nie-Stowell Community Building.

Wilcox
C. H. “Bubba” Wilcox, 75 of
Anahuac passed away on Tuesday,
Sept. 4,2012, at his residence with
his family by his side. He was a
loving husband, father, grandfa-
ther, great-
grandfather,
brother,
uncle and
friend.
Funeral
services
were held
Friday, Sept.
7, 2012, at
First United
Methodist
Church in
Anahuac. Interment followed in
Anahuac Cemetery. A gathering of
Bubba’s family and friends was
held Thursday, Sept. 6, at the fu-
neral home.
Bubba was preceded in death by
his parents, C.C. and Hilma
Wilcox; granddaughter, Allison.
He started working for Wilcox
Drug Store after college in 1959
and became the owner in 1972. He
loved his family, his friends, golf,
and woodworking. Bubba served
on the Board of Directors for
Anahuac National Bank since
1994. He was a lifelong resident
of Anahuac. Bubba graduated from
Anahuac High School in 1955 and
received a B.S. degree in Phar-
macy from the University of Hous-
ton in 1959. Bubba also served as
president of the Anahuac Promo-
tional Association, served on the
Anahuac I.S.D. Board of Trustees.
He was a member of First United
Methodist Church in Anahuac.
Bubba is survived by his wife of
54 years, Elva “Ebbie” Wilcox;
daughter, Jeanie Smart and hus-
band Oliver; sons, Dave Wilcox,
and wife, Gena, Andy Wilcox and
wife, Kay; grandchildren, Curt
Wilcox, Taylor Wilcox, Whitney
Wilcox Zachry and husband, Joel,
Drew Wilcox, Mason Smart; great-
granddaughter, Tegan Zachry; sis-
ter, Gylene Wilcox and a host of
other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family re-
quest donations be made in
Bubba’s name to the First United
Methodist Church in Anahuac.

Saturday, Sept. 22
■ St. Vincent de Paul in Winnie
will hold its annual Walk for the
Poor food drive from 8 a.m. to
noon. The annual food drive, a na-
tional event, begins in Winnie at
the St. Louis Catholic Church on-
Buccaneer Drive, travels south to
Highway 124, then north to St.
Vincent de Paul thrift store. The
proceeds raised from pledges stays
here and goes to the Assistance
Center, which provides assistanc
and services for pepple in need.
Anyone who wants to participate
in the march by raising pledges or
who wants to pledge money can do
so by calling 296-2898. You can
help a very worthwhile cause.

■ The American Legion Unit 255
will hold its annual fall bazaar
today and on Sunday, Nov. 4, at
the Winnie-Stowell Community
Building. Vendors are wanted for
arts, crafts, jewelry, and more. No

Tuesday, Dec. 11
■ The fourth annual Tree of An-
gels Ceremony will take place at
10:30 a.m. at the Chambers County
Courthouse. Each year this cere-
mony is held in honor of victims of
violent crimes and their families.
Refreshments will be provided.

The Shane Detwiler Foundation is dedicated to the memory of Sheriff's Deputy Shane Thomas Detwiler
who was tragically killed in the line of duty,, serving the citizens of Chambers County, Texas. Our mission
through fundraising is to provide scholarships to worthy individuals interested in pursuing a degree in
criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University, Shane's alma mater. In addition, the foundation will
