You can put it down that Kansas i

place on the ticket he is n power in
Kansas and has a strong tallowing But
Bltine is the man for Kansas The Re-
publicans will accept no compromise on
this paint Many of the most iLlluential
RrjiublicEns declared emphatically
fJod with undoubted sincerity that
they would sooner be defeated with
the man from Maine than victorious witn
any other candidate The Democrats are
just as enthusiastic Cleveland partisans
They are satislled with him and entertain
the belief prevalent In other states as far
as I have learned that while Cleveland is
the strongest man for the Democrats
Blaine is the weakest for the Republi-
cans and his defeat would be certain
Governor Wheeler is in excellent spir-

sion of the Ninth Internrtional M dicsi
Congress was called to order by Presi-
dent Davis at S0 this morning Many
of the American members had already left
the city for their homes and the attend-
ance was consequently small Tne sec
retsrygeneral read by titles alone the
teveral resolutions passed bysecti nsand
referred to the congress Dr Graiiey
He lilt of London aro e and said he was
r < qie ted on the nsrt of the forcign mem
beri < of this congress to express in
a few words the sense which was
entertained by them of his congreta
and of tne efforts which haye been mide
by the executive commits of this Con
arc ss for the lurthcraree of the objects
of this meeting and to convey to them
the srateful thanks of the foreign mem-
bers for the attention bestowed upon the
matter and their grateful appreciation
which has attended their efforts He de
tired also to express their sense of hospi-
tality and kindness and attention which
thev had received both private and pub-
lic an attention which would make their
visit to Washington 3 source of gratifica-
tion and happy memories in the future
As more formal expression he begged to
suited in so great

and
public and private we have received dur-
ing our pleasant visit to this beautiful
citvDr
Dr Ilewitts remarks and the resolution
were loudly applauded
Dr Martin ot Berlin expressed in Ger-
man his thanks for the kindness he and
other members of tbe congress had re-
ceived and the gratification at the suc-
cess of the congress lie had come here-
with some doubts these were all re-
moved and the great success of
this congress would secure
It a high rack among the medical
Congresses that have been held Is had
been the custom to engrave the names of
the victorious at O ympic games on plates
of gold They could also record the
name3 of their entertainers and the only
means of expression ot their sentiments
was by a vote of thanks
Tne resolutions were adopted
Dr Davis mide the closing remarks
and declared tne convention adjourned
sine die
About 150 foreign doctors were taken
tDday on a visit to Mount Vernon and
most of them left this evening for ttst
