Dios, el Padre, toca el dedo dc Adan y Ic transmite vida a
la figura de Adtin. Muchos han visto esta descripcibn de
Genesis en sentido chauvinista como primacefa
masculina. Observando bien la figura de Dios, el Padre
Creador, nos hace ver la figura difusa de una mujer en
los pliegues de su manto. Algunos dicen que Miguel
Angel queria demostrar que Dios, en el motnento de la
creacibn dc Adrin, estaba pensando en Eva. La mujer no
fub un pensamiento secundario en la Mente Divina, sino
que estaba con Dios desde el momento de la creacibn.
El Papa Juan Pablo 11 en su Carta Apostblica, Dignidad
y Vocacibn de las Mujeres, del 15 de agosto, 1988,
Ciudad del Vaticano, dedica una seccion enteramente al
tema de Genesis y la frase “La lmagen y Semejanza de
Dios. El Papa dice que ese pasaje, “Y creb Dios al
hombre a su imagen. A imagen de Dios lo creb. Macho y
hembra los creb" (Gem: 1 ”27), significa que:
Ese pasaje contiene las verdades fundamentales
antropolbgicas: el hombre es la suprema creacibn en el
rnundo visible; la raza humana, que toma su origen de la
formacibn del hombre y la mujer, coronando la labor de
la creacibn: ambos, hombre y mujer son seres humanos a
igual grado, ambos son creados a la imagen de Dios"

La celebracibn del Dia de los Padres en nuestros
hogares e iglesias este junio de 1999, debe ser muy
especial. Cada Dia de los Padres nos hace recordar la
bondad del Padre Celestial que nos ha dado vida. Para
algunos, “padre" pueda significar solamente la persona
que le dio vida y luego desaparecib. De todas maneras,
hubo el regalo de la vida. “Padre” significa mas el
hombre, que con su amorosa esposa, forman todos los
valores y conducta que enriquecerrin la vida del nino. Si
este es el padre biolbgico o un maravilloso padre
adoptivo, bl comparte en las cualidades de dar vida
otorgado por el Padre Celestial. El Papa Pio XII, siempre
adelamandose a la era, dijo a los padres adoptivos que
aquellos que crian un nino son muchas veces mris padres
que aquellos que solamente lc dieron la vida.
El Papa Juan Pablo II pide que lomemos en cuenta a
todos los ninos de Dios en estos aflos que son de
preparacion para el Gran Jubileo del Aflo 2000. En el
Jubileo pensamos en vida nueva en la familia catblica, y
lambibn pensamos en aquellos lazos que nos unen a
otros crislianos, a los otros hijos de Abraham que creen
en Dios, nuestos hennanos de la fe judia e islamina.
Tenemos que considcrar como objetos de nuestra caridad
a todos los seres humanos que llevan la imagen de Dios
en sus almas.
Darnos un especial agradecimiento a nuestros padres
en este Dia de los Padres. Le pedimos al Padre Celestial
que los bendiga a ellos y a nosotros.
Que el Senor les bendiga y les guarde.

education of seminarians, deacons and priests
of tke Diocese ol Corpus Ckristi. Tke interest
earned by live fund is applied eack year to
tkeir education and formation. A burse may
be started in memory of any individual priest,
religious or lay person, or for any intention.
Tke total cost ol educating our priests =,
deacons and seminarians during tke fiscal
year wkick ended June 30, 1998 was $839,763.
Tke cask dividends and interest of $315,538
earned by tke burse fund in tke same period
was applied to defray tlvis cost. Tke Burse
Fund needs to grow in order to eliminate tke
skortfall between projected cask dividends and
interest, and tke fiscal year 98*99 budget of
$797,174. Skould you desire to contribute lo a
